Republic Act 10627 , or the Anti-Bullying Act (the “Act”), aims to protect children enrolled in kindergarten, elementary, and secondary schools and learning centers (collectively, “Schools”) from being bullied. It requires Schools to adopt policies to address the existence of bullying in their respective institutions.
Bullying is a form of intentional, aggressive behavior repeated over time that involves unequal power and causes injury or leaves the victim feeling fearful, hurt, distraught or isolated .
FOUR TYPES OF BULLYING
ACTIVITY: “Balloon Burst". I will play a music, while the music is playing the ball should be pass to the person next to you. When the music stops the person who was holding the ball will burst it by sitting on it. Inside the balloon there is scenario, you will analyze and try to identify what type of bullying.
Scenario 1 You have a new classmate from a different country. Your friends say rude things to her, make fun of her English, and tell her to go back home. Now she sits alone at lunch. VERBAL BULLYING
Verbal bullying is a means of using words in a negative way such as insults and teasing. It includes teasing, name calling, making an in appropriate sexual comments and threatening to cause harm.
Scenario 2 Alex is in the sixth grade and he is not doing well at school. He has noticed that someone has written nasty things about him on the back of the washroom doors. He thinks that it is Peter, a boy in his class. Peter has been spreading stories about Alex and says that Alex still wets the bed, which is not true. SOCIAL BULLYING
Social bullying is a common form of bullying among children and students. It involves exclusions from groups, spreading malicious rumors and stories about others and generally alienating people from social acceptance and interaction.
Scenario 3 Bert is very small for his age. He also had a bad leg that he was born with, so he limbs. He is upset and angry because bigger boys keep picking and pushing him up. PHYSICAL BULLYING
Physical bullying is a behavior that harms or injures someone's body, or which damage someone's possession. It includes hitting, shoving, pushing, taking or breaking someone's things and making mean or rude hand gestures.
Scenario 4 Your sister Mary is very upset because she has found out that someone in her group of friends at school, has disclosed her mobile telephone number. She is now regularly receiving prank and malicious calls. CYBER BULLYING
Cyber bullying is perpetrated using technological device or service. This includes the use of social networking sites, text messages, and email.
