INTRODUCTION BYJU's is an online tutoring platform founded by Byju Raveendran in 2011. The app, developed by Think and Learn Pvt Ltd, offers personalized learning experiences for students across various educational levels. It has become immensely popular, boasting 3.5 million paid subscriptions and an impressive 85% renewal rate.

BACKGROUND The Indian EdTech industry was valued at US$ 750 million in 2020 and is projected to reach US$ 4 billion by 2025 (CAGR of 39.77%).- Factors driving this growth include demand for non-academic courses from tier II & III cities and the need for personalized learning.

THE FOUNDER Byju Raveendran, hailing from a small coastal village in Kerala, initially worked as an engineer in a UK-based shipping company. His unique shortcuts helped friends crack the IIM entrance exams, earning him fame.- Despite achieving a perfect score, he rejected IIM admission, driven by a desire to provide the best education to others. Byju transitioned from teaching small classes to large auditoriums, discovering his strengths along the way.

BYGU’s a blend Byju's App: A Blend of Content, Media, and Technology Content: - BYJU's boasts a team of experienced teachers ("Rockstars") who create extensive knowledge maps for each concept. Real-world metaphors make learning interesting and relevant to the target age group. Media ("Enter-trainment"): Rockstar teachers are filmed in front of a green screen. - Videos are enhanced with animation, background effects, special effects, and virtual objects. The result: engaging and fun learning experiences.

MILESTONES Launching the BYJU'S app in 2015, which has over 15 million users and 9,00,000 paid subscribers. Becoming the first Asian company to receive funding from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative in 2016 Becoming a unicorn in 2018 and a decacorn in 2020, with a valuation of $8.4 billion as of May 2023 Acquiring several other edtech platforms such as OSMO, WhiteHat Jr, Gradeup, Epic, Great Learning, Aakash Educational Services Ltd, and Tynker Becoming the official sponsor of the Indian Cricket Team in 2019 and the International Cricket Council in 2021 Featuring in TIME100 Most Influential Companies for the year 2021²

DEVELOPMENTS In 2020, BYJU's acquired WhiteHat Jr for a staggering $300 million. This acquisition provided access to over 7 lakh registered users and expanded BYJU's presence in the international market. Similar to this BYGU’s acquired many online learning platforms as displayed above.
