Archipelago of Cabrera
Introduction We are going to talk about two Maritime-terrestrial National Parks: Cabrera archipelago and the Atlantic island of Galicia
Where is it It is in the Balearic Islands It is 100 km²
Flora There are two types of flora, marine and terrestrial: 85% of the surface of the park is marine. There are more than 160 algae species. The vegetation is typically Mediterranean: Aleppo pine, wild olive trees and bushes. The junipers also occupy a wide area. The archipelago has 22 endemic species.
Fauna In the archipelago of La Cabrera there is a lot of life, it is one of the best preserved areas of the Mediterranean. Marine fauna The marine fauna is composed of mollusks, crustaceans, sponges, sea urchins, cuttlefish, and more than 214 species of fish. On the rocky bottoms, groupers, octopi, loggerhead turtles and dolphins share habitat.
Terrestrial fauna Among the reptiles, the Balearic lizard stands out. Among the seabirds, seagulls predominate, as well as osprey, kestrels and peregrine falcons. The number of mammals is not very large, predominantly rabbits, black rats, hedgehogs and several species of bats. There are no amphibians because of the lack of fresh water.

What can you do Uses and activities allowed: The observation of fauna and flora. Making non-professional photographs without leaving the itineraries. All those that do not alter the landscape, natural and cultural values of the Park. Uses and activities that require written authorization: The activity of filming, photography, video professionals, etc. Diving. Navigation and anchoring. The acts of multitudinous character. All commercial activity that must be developed in a fixed establishment. The acting as interpretive guide, tourist guide or informant inside the Park.
What can´t you do Uses and prohibited activities: Throw away waste and debris. Extract any type of geological material. Extract or alter any archaeological object. Collect any type of material, live or inert. Drop, sow, transplant animal or vegetable species. Light a fire and smoke. Dock boats outside the areas expressly authorized. Camping in all the territory of the National Park. Carry on. Carry out any type of hunting activity. Access on the ground at any point other than the pincers of the port of Cabrera. Circular off the tracks and roads. Diving in apnea during the months of May and June in the coastal areas where the species Scyllarides latus makes its laying. Sport fishing. Prohibited to fly drones.
Sustaneble developemt in this parks The uniqueness of the Park is that it is a self-managed territory. The park does not have municipal or external services for the collection of waste, sanitation, sewage, electricity or fuel supply. It is the park itself that is responsible for all these services.
