Camera Shots Omar Rasoul

Extreme Long Shot An extremely wide shot that provides a view from an even greater distance, in which people appear as small dots in the landscape if at all. 2 Camera Shots 2024

Long Shot Gives the audience an experience of the character and the scenery making it ideal for big cinematic moments. 3 Camera Shots 2024

Medium Wide Shots Between full and wide shots, this shot is used to pull the focus away from the background setting and put more emphasis on the subject. 4 Camera Shots 2024

Mid Shot Focuses on the subject from the waist up and is the perfect shot in films when directors want to draw audiences' attention to dialogue or a characters actions. 5 Camera Shots 2024

Close Up Shot Frames the characters face directly and is usually used to focus sharply on the subject and their emotions with the background usually being out of focus. 6 Camera Shots 2024

Mid Close Up Shot Focus on the chest and face of the subject and even though the subject's face is part of the shot, it's not the primary focus there is still distance between us and the subject and we can see more of the environment around them. 7 Camera Shots 2024

Extreme Close Up Shot The subject is extremely close and the focal point of the frame. Extreme close-ups draw attention to smaller details like the eyes, nose, or mouth. It can also emphasize a change that is occurring to the character. This extreme close up from Fight Club is a good example of how this shot is used, it is placing heavy emphasis on the horrified facial expression of the subject as well as the damage they have taken physically. 8 Camera Shots 2024

High Angle Shot A High Angle shot is usually used to make the subject look small and to emphasise the size of whatever the subject is looking at whether its something that is bigger than them or something that is higher than them. 9 Camera Shots 2024

Low Angle Shot This shot is placed at a tilt looking up at the subject and is usually used to emphasise the dominance of the subject or the size of the subject. These two examples show the shot in use in both scenes the shot is used to emphasise the villain’s dominance over the fallen hero as they approach them. 10 Camera Shots 2024

Worms Eye View Similar to a low angle shot this shot is placed low but at an extreme level as if the viewer is a bug or as the name states a worm on the floor looking up at the subjects. Similarly it is used to emphasise the overwhelming dominance of whatever the subject is whether that’s a villain or a new busy city scape. 11 Camera Shots 2024

Birds Eye View Placed way over the subject at the level of a bird in the sky and is usually used to show of a new landscape or emphasise the subjects size in comparison to where they are. 12 Camera Shots 2024

Canted/Dutch Angle Shot A tilted shot that is usually used to show the character as being in a disorientated state and the film ‘Fear and loathing in Las Vegas' is a good example of this shot being used to achieve this effect as the characters throughout the film are intoxicated and the camera work emphasises that through using shots like this one. 13 Camera Shots 2024

Panoramic Shot A shot that shows an entire city/landscape and does so in one frame. 14 Camera Shots 2024
