CLASSROOM ACTION RESEARCH Efforts to Improve Student Learning Outcomes Through Active Learning Models in the Classroom W A O D E SITI K H A DIJA H A R D I ANTI ( 2 3 2 3 1 3 3 ) UNIDAYAN STUDENTS
I n t r o d uction a n d B a c k ground - Conventional lecture methods result in passive learning and low achievement (Isnada & Al Muhajir, 2023). - Active learning models like STAD and PAIKEM improve engagement and outcomes (Winarti, 2015; Jais, 2019). - This research investigates how active learning can be applied to improve student performance.
R e s e arch O b j e c tives - Improve student learning outcomes through active learning strategies. - Increase student participation and motivation. - Identify effective forms of active learning activities.
T h e o r i t i c a l F r a m e work - Learning Outcomes: Behavioral changes in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains (Sudjana, 2005). - Active Learning Models: - STAD (Slavin, 1995): Cooperative group learning. - PAIKEM (Jais, 2019): Active, innovative, creative, effective, and enjoyable learning. - Think-Pair-Share & Problem-Based Learning: Promote critical thinking and collaboration.
Research Design & Data Collection - Subjects: 30 tenth-grade students in Makassar. - Cycle I: STAD model implementation (Winarti, 2015). - Cycle II: PAIKEM approach (Jais, 2019). - Instruments: Pre-test & post-test (Isnada & Al Muhajir, 2023), observation sheets, student interviews.
R e s u l t s A n d A nal yst - Cycle I (STAD): - Score increased from 68 → 75; 65% met the minimum criteria. - Cycle II (PAIKEM): - Score increased to 82; 90% met the minimum criteria. - Students became more confident, active, and curious. - Active learning transformed passive behavior into participatory engagement.
Conclusion & Recommendations - Active learning significantly improves academic performance and student motivation. - Teachers should adapt STAD and PAIKEM based on student needs. - Schools must support innovation through training and resources. - Future research should explore active learning in other subjects and integrate technology.
