5. Senior High School (SHS) refers to the last two years of the K to 12 Program What is Senior High School?

6. In SHS, students will go through a core curriculum and subjects under a track of their choice. What is Senior High School?

7. Does SHS refer to an additional two years of high school? Yes. These two additional years will equip learners with skills that will better prepare them for the future, whether it be: Employment Entrepreneurship Skills Development (Further Tech- Voc training) Higher Education (College)

8. what if.... What if I do not want to go to SHS? Technically, it's your choice. But you won't get a High School diploma. You will be called a Grade 10 completer , but you will miss out on the benefits of a full High School graduate.

12. HIGHER EDUCATION If you do go to college, the subjects you take on will be more focused and more relevant to your chosen course. Some College and University core subjects have now been integrated into SHS, which means less repetition.

13. MIDDLE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT This benefit applies to technical and vocational careers . While at SHS, you will already learn specialized skills. Continuing education at other Tech-Voc institutions means being able to get to more advanced subjects faster.

14. ADDITIONAL EXPENSE? SHS will be offered free in public schools and there will be a voucher program in place for public junior high school completers as well as ESC beneficiaries of private high schools should they choose to take SHS in private institutions. This means that the burden of expenses for the additional two years need not be completely shouldered by parents.

15. What is Voucher Program? K to 12: SHS Voucher Program It provides subsidies to students who wish to enroll in a private or non-DepEd Senior High School. All Grade 10 completers from public schools and all Grade 10 completers in private high schools who are Education Service Contracting (ESC) grantees automatically get one.

21. STEM Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Is the strand that focuses on math and science. This strand can help the student to enhance his/her skills in problem solving, critical thinking and to have an innovative mind . This strand can help you improve and strengthen your logical reasoning, critical thinking, widen your creativity and your skills in writing.

22. HUMSS Humanities and Social Sciences Is the strand that focuses on the study of society’s issues and changes, human behaviour , culture, art and history.

23. ABM Accountancy, Business and Management Is the strand that focuses on management , finance , marketing and business . You can develop business analytical skills that can help you when you’re engaging in a business enterprise.

24. GAS General Academic Strand Is the perfect strand for those students who are still undecided. This covers various subjects given that this is ‘ general’ and gives the students a chance to think what they will choose in college. You can develop and improve different skills in this strand.

You can gain various skills such as song composing, stage performing, illustrating, sculpting, photography, or choreography under this track.

29. What is the Arts & Design Track? Arts and Design also aims not only to ensure that you can get a livelihood out of your interest in arts and design but also to help various regions in the country in preserving their local culture.

30. SPORTS TRACK The Sports Track aims to give the students understanding of the fu ndamental principles and techniques related to sports, fitness, and recreation. It will also discuss various factors that affect social, psychological, and cognitive development in sports leadership and management.
