Explanation
CAT4 Mock Test | Non-Verbal Reasoning | Figure Classification
Linking element 1:
●Shapes: The shapes in the pair are both stars that contain 4 grey shapes.
●We can rule out A because it contains white shapes.
●We can rule out D because it contains 5 shapes.
Linking element 2:
●Position: The grey shapes are positioned in 4 of the points of the star. The one point that does not contain a shape
is the leftmost point.
●We can rule out B: the star contains a shape in its leftmost point!
Linking element 3:
●Rotation: Moving clockwise around the points of the star, the small grey shapes are 90° clockwise rotations of
each other.
●We can rule out E because the shapes in the points are 90° anticlockwise rotations of each other.
C is the correct answer!

Explanation
CAT4 Mock Test | Non-Verbal Reasoning | Figure Matrices
Linking element 1:
●Colour: Each box within a column contains a rectangle that is the same colour.
●We can rule out C.
Linking element 2:
●Colour: Each column contains small shapes that are the same colour.
●We can rule out E.
Linking element 3:
●Shape: Each row contains the same small shapes.
●We can rule out A.
Linking element 4:
●Number: Each column contains the same number of zig-zags.
●We can rule out B.
D is the correct answer!

Explanation
CAT4 Mock Test | Verbal Reasoning | Verbal Classification
●‘Expand’ and ‘swell’ are both verbs that mean ‘to grow outwards’.
●Synonyms are words that mean the same thing. They could replace one another in a sentence
without the meaning of the sentence changing. Synonyms are always the same type of word, such
as a verb or a noun.
●You might have considered ‘last’ and ‘look’ to be synonyms since they are often paired together in
the phrase ‘take a last look’.
●However, there is no direct relation between these two words and they are not even of the same
word class! When they are used in ‘take a last look’, ‘last’ is used as an adjective while ‘look’ is used
as a noun.

Explanation
CAT4 Mock Test | Verbal Reasoning | Verbal Analogies
●Birds fly, just as fish swim.
●The connection is the most common action that the animals do.
●Remember that both of the pairs will follow the same connection!

Explanation
CAT4 Mock Test | Quantitative Reasoning | Number Analogies
●For each triplet, we must multiply the left number by the right number to make the middle number.
●Let's check this with the second triplet:
7 × 8 = 56 ✓
●We can apply this to the third triplet to find the missing number:
11 × 5 = 55

Slide 22
Explanation
CAT4 Mock Test | Quantitative Reasoning | Number Series
●To find the missing numbers that complete the sequence, we need to work out the rule.
●The numbers get larger as the sequence progresses so it's likely to follow a multiplication or addition rule.
As the numbers increase unevenly, multiplication is probably used to get from one term to the next.
●You may recognise that double 18 is 36 and use this to work out that each number in the sequence is being
multiplied by 2 to get to the next.
●The missing numbers are 144 and 288 which complete the sequence:
18, 36, 72, 144, 288, 576, 1152

Explanation
CAT4 Mock Test | Spatial Ability | Figure Analysis
Layers and numbers:
●Two triangles have been cut out from four layers of paper. This means that the unfolded paper will have
eight triangles cut out from it.
●We can rule out A, B and D.
Unfolding the final fold:
●When we unfold the final fold, the two triangles at the bottom of the paper will be reflected across the
vertical fold. This means that we can rule out C – the triangles have been duplicated across instead of
reflected.
E is the correct answer!

●We can see that the main shape appears in E, in which it has been rotated 90° anticlockwise
