5 . CCC: 232-237 Blessed Trinity 44. What is the central mystery of Christian faith and life? 232-237 The central mystery of Christian faith and life is the mystery of the Most Blessed Trinity. Christians are baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Introduction : The most important divine secret of faith that Jesus Christ revealed to us: the mystery of the Holy Trinity . God is one in essence and triune in persons: it is the revelation of his intimate life . We must try to know it and live it! The Creed or Symbol is the explanation of the Trinitarian mystery .
The Blessed Trinity, mystery of the one true God and three Real distinct Persons The mysteries are not understood, but by knowing them, faith becomes firm and operative. Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity : In God there is only one essence and three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each of whom is God, without being three gods but one and only God. Revelation: work of the Trinity Creation, redemption and sanctification are attributed, respectively, to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. But all three actions are actions of God. Hence, when we thank God for all that he has done for us, we have to thank God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Indwelling of the Trinity in the soul in grace Man who lives in grace is a living temple of the Most Blessed Trinity (cf. John 14:23 ). From the day of our baptism, if we do not reject God because of mortal sin, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are in our soul . We have God within us to sanctify us, to help us, to be with us, because he loves us.
In Heaven we shall see the Blessed Trinity The great prize of heaven consists in seeing God, contemplating, praising, loving and enjoying the Most Blessed Trinity for all eternity: All the greatness, all the beauty, all the goodness of God is poured out upon this poor creature that each one of us is. In heaven the soul will have the possibility of seeing what Moses wanted to see on earth: the majesty of God. We ought to honor and glorify the Holy Trinity God loves us in an incredible way. We have to correspond to so much love, and the Christian life has to be a continuous praise to the Trinity. We profess faith in the Most Holy Trinity when: we make the sign of the Cross, saying "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"; we pray the "Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit“; we recite the Gloria or the Creed at Holy Mass, and at the end of the Eucharistic Prayer. Resolutions: Learn the Creed and recite it with devotion . Consider that the Holy Trinity - God Himself - is in the soul in grace, and that living in grace is the only truly important thing.
