Cell identification in bone marrow

STRUCTURE OF BONE MARROW Bone marrow is made up of (a) Cellular elements like hemopoietic stem cells, proliferating and differentiating progenitors and morphologically recognizable precursors. (b) Stroma of bone marrow The specialized stroma of the marrow forms a unique micro-environment of the marrow in which not only the hemopoietic progenitors are anchored but they also proliferate and differentiate in this environment

CELLULAR ELEMENTS OF BONE MARROW In the bone marrow, hemopoietic islands are the major Component and consist of erythroid, myeloid and platelet precursors. Besides these cells, other cells which, though in smaller numbers play a pivotal role in the bone marrow and consist of lymphocytes, plasma cells, macrophages, mast cells, dendritic cells, osteoblasts and osteoclasts.
