CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEM CHS RADIANT/CONVECTIVE AHU BASED (BASED ON TWIN SYSTEM) “WE WILL EITHER FIND A WAY OR MAKE ONE”
RADIANT & CONVECTIVE HEATING PILOT PROJECT AT SRINAGAR 1. CONCEPT. HEAT THE CONCRETE FLOOR BY CIRCULATING HEATED WATER/GLYCOL MIXTURE THROUGH PE-RT PIPES SO THAT THE FLOOR STARTS RADIATING AND HEAT TRANSFERS THROUGH RADIATION AND NATURAL CONVECTION. 2. OPERATION. (a) WATER/GLYCOL MIXTURE IS HEATED BY HOT WATER GENERATORS, WHICH IS THEN CIRCULATED INSIDE THE HANGAR THROUGH A PRIMARY LOOP. (b) THIS HEATED MIXTURE THEN TRANSFERS ITS HEAT TO THE SECONDARY LOOP, CONTAINING WATER/GLYCOL MIXTURE THROUGH A HEAT EXCHANGER, WHICH PASSES UNDER THE PQC FLOOR. 3. TOTAL POLYETHYLENE RAISED TEMP (PE-RT) PIPE USED IS APPROX 30 KMS, WHICH IS EMBEDDED IN PQC. 4 . PROBLEMS FACED. FLOOR TEMP RISE AS PER DESIRED REQUIREMENT WAS NOT BEING ACHIEVED DURING INITIAL TESTING CARRIED OUT IN JAN 2021. 5. RECTIFICATION ACTIONS INITIATED. (a) HOD MECH DEPT, IIT KANPUR WAS REQUESTED TO VISIT THE SITE ON SHORT NOTICE AND RECOM CHANGES. SITE VISIT WAS DONE IN THE LAST WEEK OF FEB 2021. (b) CERTAIN CHANGES CARRIED OUT IN THE HOT WATER GENERATOR FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM TO INCREASE EFFECIENCY. (c) CERTAIN PUMPS RE-LOCATED TO INCREASE FLOW RATE WHICH WAS CONSIDERED AS A MAJOR REASON FOR INADEQUATE FLOOR HEATING. “WE WILL EITHER FIND A WAY OR MAKE ONE”
RADIANT & CONVECTIVE HEATING PILOT PROJECT AT SRINAGAR 6. TESTING AND RESULTS. (a) SUCCESSFUL TESTING CARRIED OUT FROM 28-30 JAN 2022 IN THE PRESENCE OF SR IEM AND USER REP INCL AOC, 1 WG, CADMO AND WKS OFFR. (b) MAX INSIDE TEMP ACHIEVED WAS 23.5 ﹾ C WHEN OUTSIDE TEMP WAS -1 ﹾ C (FURTHER INCR IN TEMP COULD HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED BUT TESTING WAS STOPPED AFTER 72 HRS AS PER CONTRACT CONDITIONS) . (c) CONTRACT CONDITION 20 ﹾ C (+-) 2 ﹾ C WHEN - 7 ﹾ C OUTSIDE. (d) MAX FLOOR TEMP ACHIEVED 34 ﹾ C. PE-RT PIPES LAYED IN PQC
