Chain conveyor

1. Chain conveyor Chain conveyor consists of two elements:- Chain element Chain attachment Chain elements are made up of cast iron. Exclusively used for package transportation.

2. There are three types of chain conveyors Scraper type chain conveyor Apron chain conveyor Bucket chain conveyor

3. Scraper chain conveyor:- Two endless chains passes through a trough The chains are attached to a wooden plate called as flight. Package to be transported is kept on the flight and chain pulls these container.

4. Advantages:- Low installation cost Suitable for transportation at steep places Disadvantages:- High power consumption

5. Apron type chain conveyor:- There are two endless chains accompanied with the rollers. These chains are connected through a steel pan. Exclusively used for transportation of heavy loads. Speed ranges from 70-100 feet/min.

6. Bucket chain conveyor:- Bucket is made up of cast iron, plastic or steel Buckets may be flatter for carrying sticky material, steel buckets are used for carrying larger particles. Distance between two buckets should be maintained as well as distance between bottom of booth and boot of bucket should be maintained to avoid their sticking between each other.
