Who is Kabir khan? Once the hero of the Indian Hockey team, the best ‘ centre forward’ in the world. The person who knows what it’s like to comeback from the dead. Took responsibility to reclaim his and his love towars nation’s lost pride.

Story line ‘ Chak De India’ is a story of coach’s combination of dream and fight to make his team the best in the world. Individual goal vs Group goal

Story line Conflict management: -Fight between Komal and Preeti S abarwal # Sattar Minute

Personality Traits Unshakable confidence Visionary Conceptualizer Clear cut decision making skills Emotional Stability Extraversion Conscientiousness Openness to experience

Team Formation Building a team of players from different background and diversities Four stages of team formation: Forming Storming Norming Performing

Forming Stage First stage which is characterized by uncertainty , a common goal brings people together. Hockey player from different Indian states coming together to form a diversified work group.

Storming Stage Conflict between team players arise in their natural working styles. Weakness of the team as a whole comes out in this stage.

Norming Stage Here they start to resolve their differences , appreciate their co players and their skills and start working as one unit.

Performing Stage Clear with every strategy and goals , just need to deliver on the field

Hersey & Blanchard’s Situational Leadership Directing -During initial training time period, Kabir khan gave specific task directions and closely supervise their play; this is a high-task, low-relationship style. Coaching – After sometime of training, Hockey time accepted his leadership, explaining task directions in a supportive and persuasive way; this is a high-task, high-relationship style . Supporting - During final match of world cup, he believed and supported in the abilities of his team. It is possible because of emphasizing of common shared goal and participative decisions; this is a low-task, high-relationship style .

Team Management Players from various states with different ethnic background, language, culture, personality and attitudes come upon a team to play together with a common goal i.e to play for the country. It also showed that goal can be easily achieved if they work on the team with the shared values and motives. In the movie, comparatively a weaker team went up to the hockey finals and won against the strong team Australia.

Uniting the Team It could be observed that neither player nor the administrator were sure of playing and winning the game but kabir khan stimulated this zeal and developed enthusiasm to win not as individual but as a team. Great amount of attention has been paid to the players, the diversity in culture, their language and team dynamics. As it is very compulsory because first the diversity should be converted in the single identity. That kabir khan tried by saying "say India" "we the Indian" rather than telling the name of state.

Using skills and resources wisely In the movie Bindiya Nayer is only a player who know how to play against korean team  that's why Kabir meet him personally and  motivate her to come and play and she does the same.

Group decision-making   is a situation faced when individuals collectively make a choice from the alternatives before them. The decision is then no longer attributable to any single individual who is a member of the group. This is because all the individuals and social group processes such as social influence contribute to the outcome . They make a common decision to play against boys team. Leaders do emerge themselves in group naturally, Bindia Naik emerges as a leader in the group in various occasions like in a scene she made all the players to sign to demand the resignation of the coach. Group Decision Making

Underdogs to World Champions An "underdog" is a person or group in a competition, usually in sports and creative works, who is popularly expected to lose. Writer, Jaideep Shahni said, "If you have sports as a career, you are an underdog once, if you are a hockey player or playing anything other than cricket, then you are an underdog twice over and if you are a girl playing hockey, then you are an underdog three times over. The tournament began with a 7-0 loss to Australia then followed by victories over England, Spain, South Africa, New Zealand, Argentina and South Korea. They were again pitted against Australia for the final and came out triumphant in the penalty shoot-out which was totally unexpected. Some other examples in real life sports includes: Roberta Vinci defeating Serena Williams in US Open 2015. India beating West Indies in World Cup Final 1983. Argentina defeating USA in Men’s Basketball Final during 2004 Summer Olympics.

Key Learnings Never lose hope. Sacrifices to achieve goals. Identify the areas of reinforcement and development. Strict disciplinarian but caring when required.

Conflict Management Conflict management  is the process of limiting the negative aspects of conflict while increasing the positive aspects of conflict. The aim of conflict management is to enhance learning and group outcomes, including effectiveness or performance in organizational setting . Conflict exists in the movie naturally and sometimes is induced deliberately by the leader. The differences between the girls creates a natural conflicting situation. However Kabir Khan also creates conflicts between himself and the team so as to bond the group together to form a team.

The world cup India Vs Australia Well trained but unorganised

The Human Resource Planning Focus On the right talent Make use of the team members in the best possible way

Quarter final- Stress Management In this match, there was a threat from the opposition team that, they have injured players in the previous match. The same way in the corporate world we would come across various situations which would put pressure and create stress among the team members so that the team wont able to perform under stress. In SUCH SCENARIOUS , we would know to handle stress and give our best to perform.

Semi Final- Strategy Self confidence Experience and talent Strategy

FINAL-Stick to your Instincts Motivation Conflict Management Stick to your Instincts

KEY Takeaways The Leader should be fair and impartial while dealing with the team-members Individual goals and agendas are always counter-productive Those who do not play(work) for the common goal should be ruthlessly dealt with and kept OUT of the team The leader should not hesitate to take hard-decisions on selecting and retaining the members of the team Nothing unites and inspires a team like a common goal Nothing is better for you than your biggest failure. Knowing the strengths, weaknesses and strategies of competitors (of the organization / team) is essential to fully exploit the strengths of the organization/team, to overcome its weaknesses and formulate appropriate strategies to exploit the weaknesses of the competitors and to win.

The talent, passion and commitment can make underdogs win . Unless pushed to limits , your team will not perform at its best. People always want easy things , and it is difficult to overcome cynicism Be strict and straight with your team. You don’t have always be nice with them There is no alternate to hard work , not even smart work! You must overcome each and every hurdle in front of you for a prolong period of times Failure is easy , But success is difficult All you need is one selfish person to ruin the whole project for everyone Cooperation in Team is important for success The Team MUST have: HIGH level commitment ; WIDE participation DEEP interaction and LONG term view of benefits

Thank You CHAK DE !!!!
