The El Filibusterismo contains an inscription written by Fredinand
Blumentritt.
Main Characters
Simoun - who was Crisostomo Ibarra, a wealthy jeweler
Basilio - Taking to heart the advice of the dying boatman Elias to
study at the end of Noli Me Tangere.
Isagani - The best friend of Basilio, he is a poor law student and
poet
-He is in love with the spoiled, flirtatious Paulita Gomez
Makaraig - The rich student who offered his own house as the
dormitory of the students studying in Ateneo Municipal de Manila.
Kabesang Tales - Aspiring to start his own farm, he suffered great
losses.
Padre Florentino - A secular Filipino priest. Pressured by his mother,
he became a priest even though he was in love.
Don Custodio - A high official in the government, he has held
many posts, many of which he had no qualifications for.
Paulita Gomez - who is admired by all the students, she at first
shows preference for Isagani.
Juli - Kabesang Tales's daughter and Basilio's sweetheart is known
by the nickname Juli.
The story El Filibusterismo begins on board the clumsy roundish shaped steamer
named Tabo.
This steamer is sailing upstream the Pasig from Manila to Laguna de Bay.

Simoun,a man of wealth and money use his wealth and political influence to do some
actions in able for the people to fight for their rights.He bought arms from a
Chinese merchant Quiroga.Unfortunately his first attempt to an uprising did not
happen because of the death of Maria Clara in the nunnery.
After a long time of illness brought by Maria Clara’s death,He made a perfect
revenge to the government with the help of Basilio to occur to the wedding of
Paulita Gomez and Juanito Pelaez.Simoun gave Paulita a lamp which actually would
explode and would kill all the government official including the friars inside the
building.
Isagani,the rejected lover of Paulita was roaming then to the building when
suddenly Basilio his friend warned him to go away since the lighted lamp would
explode.Thinking about Paulita he rushed into the house and threw the lamp into
the river and it exploded.
The Spanish soldiers cornered Simoun but he escaped,mortally wounded he sought
by the house of Padre Florentino by the sea as he carries his treasure chest.
The Spanish authorities, however, learn of his presence in the house of Padre
Florentino.
•Lieutenant Perez in Guardia Civil informs Padre Florentino to arrest Simoun
(8 o’clock)
