Introduction To Value Education Understanding Value Education Self-exploration as the Process for Value Education Continuous Happiness and Prosperity – the Basic Human Aspirations and their Fulfilment Right Understanding, Relationship and Physical Facility Happiness and Prosperity – Current Scenario Method to Fulfil the Basic Human Aspirations 8
Understanding Value Education All human beings hope for a happy, fulfilling life. Fulfilling life means There is a feeling of happiness within you, all the time. Your body is in good health. You have good relations with everyone connected to you. There is peace in the society around you. 9
Value Education The value of an entity is its participation in the larger order of which it is a part. Example: pen, eye, vegetable plant etc… The value of a human being is its natural or expected participation in the larger order- at the level of individual family society nature • 10
Education for a Fulfilling Life The purpose of education is to facilitate the development of clarity on the aspiration. Two important questions are What to do? How to do ? 11
To fulfil our aspirations values skills are necessary. Value Domain When we identify and set the right goals and produced in right direction. Value Education The subject which enables us to understand this domain. So Value Education is nothing but understanding aims and visualize goals for a fulfilling life and direction taken to fulfil. 12
Skill Domain Learning the skills to actualise aspiration is called skill domain. The skills such as capability, qualities, and training results into skill development. Skills helps to provide the means to achieve what is considered valuable. Are both, values and skills, required? Both are required; Values and skills are complementary to each other. If both are required, then what is the priority? Values (what to do) first, then skills(how to do), but both are required. 13
The Need & Important Implications of Value Education Correct Identification of Our Goals Do you want to be able to decide on your own right? OR Do you want somebody else to decide for you? ( This somebody may be a group of people; it may be the society or the education system etc.) If you are not able to decide on your own right then: Someone else is deciding what is valuable and what is not valuable for you. Unconsciously you keep accepting those things as values. You get busy with how to implement them, how to realize them, materialize them. 14
Development of a Holistic Perspective 15
