LET’S ANSWER THIS! What are your strategies for analyzing the characters in the movie? Does the costume of the character have an impact on what he/she presenting?

WHAT IS A SHORT STORY? is a piece of prose fiction that is of a shorter length than a novel and concretes on a single theme. In understanding a story, it is important that you are familiar with its different elements such as the characters, settings, and plot.

CHARACTERS Characters are the persons, animals, or figures represented in a literary work. They are what the readers follow throughout the story. They usually face major problems that involve interaction with other characters.

2 KINDS OF CHARACTERS FLAT CHARACTER - These characters display one or two personality traits in the story. They do not change throughout the course of the story. Moreover, they grow the specific reasons, such as lack of knowledge or being intensive. They help highlight the development of round characters. Usually, but not all the time, they are the minor characters.

2 KINDS OF CHARACTERS ROUND CHARACTER - These characters are complex and dynamic. They change in some way throughout the story. These characters usually surprise readers. -They are often called the protagonist, or the hero or heroine. The character that opposes the protagonist is called the antagonist.

CHARACTERIZATION

CHARACTERIZATION Characterization is the process by which the personalities, traits, and qualities of the character are shown by the author in the story indirectly.

Speech and Dialogue - Characters’ speech and dialogue can reveal their personalities, beliefs values, and emotions. Thoughts - Inner thoughts allow readers to understand the characters’ motivations and doubts. Actions and behaviors- The way characters act and respond to challenges illustrate their traits and development. Appearance and Physical traits- The characters’ appearance can show insights into their personalities and social and economic status.
