PCS Exams

Eligibility Criteria for Punjab 
Civil Services
Candidates applying for PCS must check out the eligibility criteria 
allocated by Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).
Following factors come under the eligibility criteria:
  Nationality
  Age Limit
  Educational Qualification
  Physical standards
  Number of Attempts

   A candidate shall be a:
   Citizen of India; or
   Citizen of Nepal; or
   Subject of Bhutan; or
   Tibetan refugee 
Nationality
Other  candidate  possessing  Indian  nationality  must  be 
registered  to  or  issued  by  the  Competent  Authority  as 
notified  Punjab  Civil  Services  General  and  Common 
Conditions of Service Rules, 1994.

Candidates must qualify the age limit set by 
PPSC.  Minimum age for applying is ­ 21 years 
and the Maximum age is ­ 37 years.
However, there are different age criteria 
according to the categories. For instance: To 
apply for Deputy Superintendent Police 
candidate must be of 21 years but should not be 
older than 37 years.
Age Limit

Educational Qualification
The candidate is required to possess a bachelor degree in any field 
from  an  authenticated  university  or  institution.  A  candidate  is 
allowed to take preliminary examination while studying for the 
degree. However, the candidate is supposed to bring the proof of 
the qualifying degree to sit in the MAINS examination. 

Physical Standards 
(Post of Deputy Superintendent of Police)
Minimum Height
Men ­ 5 feet 7 inches
Women ­ 5 feet 3 inches
Applicable for Men Only
Chest Measurement
Unexpanded ­ 33 inches
Expanded ­ 34.5 inches

Number of Attempts
Under eligibility criteria comes the number of 
attempts allowed to the candidates according to 
the categories.
 
Once, the number of attempts will be exceeded, 
candidate will not be allowed to take the 
examination.
Note: An attempt in Prelims not followed by further 
attempts will be counted.
