CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER This is a especial form of enumeration

IMPORTANT POINTS. All kind of TIMES CLUES are use in chronological order . Y esterday; simple past     Every day; simple present T omorrow; simple future   W hile; past progressive Now; present progressive . PREPOSITIONAL PHRASES OF TIME ,often appear. Eg; He got a raise at the beginning of the day.

LISTING SIGNALS Enumerators are rarely used in chronological order. We might ocaccionally write”the next thing”or “the next event”When making a list . People often use numerals ( eg : 1,2,3). In most informal writing , however , a list is usually not made with numerals, the items are indicated by what we call listing signals . Some are; first , second , third .

ANALYSIS (“Time line”) exercise Model Paragraph Although the U. S. Air Force was not officially created until after the Second World War, it had existed under other names since the beginning of the century. The Army Air Forces were started on August 1, 1907, as a part of the Aeronautical Division of the U,S. Signal Corps, and it was more than one year later that this small division carried out its first mission in its own airplane. When the United States entered World War I in 1917, the Aviation Service, as it was then called, had only thirty five pilots. On December 7, 1941, the renamed Army Air Forces had only three thousand of their ten thousand planes ready for combat. Finally, in 1947, the U. S. Air Force was established as a separate branch of the military.

TIME CLUES Times clues of all kinds are, of course , very often used in chronology ,. Once again, however , as with listing signals , the form of verb are not generally present form, as they were in process , but rather past form.

Now ask yourself . Which preposition of time are use with the following : Days of week ? Months of the year ? An exact date? Parts of the day? ( two preposition ) A specific year ? A particular hour of the day?

Oh Sorry !  We have not finished yet … Best comes now !!!
