Summary of the poem:-
The present poem has been composed by a great
English poet D.H.Lawrence.He was a novelist, essayist
and short story writer.
In the present poem he exalt s the
values of primitive life.He describes about a day when
he was sleeping in his room only in pyjamas because of
heat. He came down to drink water near the water
trough with a pitcher. When he reached near the
trough, he saw a snake there. He waited and began to
see the activities of the snake. The snake came out of a
whole near the trough. He thought to kill the snake but
he was afraid and he began to like him.The snake was
poisonous because he was yellow and brown. In Sicily,
the black, black snakes are innocent and the gold are
venomous. The snake drank much and looked around
and began to depart. The poet thought that the snake
was a king or a God. The poet also longed to talk with
the snake. When the snake began to go in the whole
