Clinic The word clinic refers to a place where outdoor patients come to physicians and members of health team for treatment and follow-up treatment According to another concept ,clinic is the place where the patients who cannot move about are ot institutionalised come for check up and treatment
Purpose and importance of clinics Primary healthcare facilities to vulnerable segment of society Easy reach,no need of transportation for patients Diagnostic facilities Free or minimum cost of treatment Counselling and health awareness Services of specialist doctors or clinicians Referral services Choice for alternative therapies
Features of good clinic Planned and follows the timetable As far as possible liberating the patients from the compulsion of pre registration Physicians and members of health team should be specialist one and skilled in their work and sufficient in number Proper arrangement of place, equipment, furniture, medicine,toilet,drinking water etc
Cont.. Working hours of the clinic is more than the usual timings of health centre. Behavior of medical staff should be satisfactory while giving the diagnosis,treatment and answers to the queries of the patients Facility for follow up treatment should be available after the treatment given in the clinic Requirement of the community should be kept in mind while setting up the clinic and its work

Steps The CHN must actively participate in planning and organising the camp securing adequate publicity of the camp Procuring and arranging all the equipments such as tables,chairs,linen,teaching material supplies as require for the camp Mobilising all available community and other resources for the successful running of the camp

Distribution of publicity material (SC /MCH) Organising exhibitions to display health messages at the venue of the camp according to the theme of the camp Involving school teachers, community leaders and other voluntary workers for imparting knowledge, changing people’s attitudes and developing desirable health practices Keeping the records about the community in hand
