1. Introduction 4. Insight Into Types Of Services 7. Service Providers in India Cloud computing is where a large number of systems are connected in private or public networks , to provide dynamically scalable infrastructure for application, data and file storage. With the advent of this technology, the cost of computation, application hosting, content storage and delivery is reduced. The idea of cloud computing is based on a very fundamental principal of ‘reusability of IT capabilities'. MEITY has empanelled 11 companies for providing cloud computing services to government departments which include: 5. Major Service Providers 8. Merits Of Cloud Computing 2. Why Cloud Computing? 3. Guidelines for Service Providers in India The Ministry of Electronics and IT ( MEITY ) has issued new guidelines on setting up of IT infrastructure by government departments using cloud computing technology with a clause mandating that all data must be stored within the country . The data server location has to be specifically mentioned in the agreement with the service provider. In order to utilize and harness the benefits of Cloud Computing, Government of India has embarked upon an ambitious initiative - "GI Cloud" which has been named as ' MeghRaj ’. The focus of this initiative is to accelerate delivery of e-services in the country while optimizing ICT spending of the Government . 9. Challenges of Cloud Computing 10. Conclusions With cloud computing, the action moves to the interface — that is, to the interface between service suppliers and multiple groups of service consumers. Cloud services will demand expertise in distributed services, procurement, risk assessment and service negotiation — areas that many enterprises are only modestly equipped to handle.
