C old deserts : A cold desert is an arid habitat where there is scanty vegetation They have a temperate climate with scorching summers and chilly winters because they are situated at a high latitude in the interior of the continent. Here weather and soil are not suitable for plant growth . Some of the famous cold deserts are Antarctica and ladakh .
The Gobi desert When we think of cold deserts a cold, snow covered mountains or mountains covered in glaciers come to mind. But , the Gobi is looks like a dry desert . But in reality theGobi desert temperature reaches -38°C at its coldest and +42°C at its warmest in summer . The Gobi is overall a cold desert, with frost and occasionally snow occurring on its dunes. Besides being quite far north, it is also located on a plateau roughly 910–1,520 m (2,990–4,990 ft ) above sea level , which contributes to its low temperatures.
T he fauna of the Gobi desert The fauna of the Gobi desert includes the following : The Gobi bear , is a subspecies of the brown bear that is found in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia . It is listed as critically endangered by the Mongolian Redbook of Endangered Species and by IUCN standards. The wild Bactrian camel is closely related to the Bactrian camel. Both are large, double-humped even-toed ungulates native to the steppes of central Asia . The Mongolian wild ass, also known as Mongolian khulan, is the nominate subspecies of the onager. It is found in southern Mongolia and northern China.
The flora of the Gobi desert : The most common vegetation in the Gobi desert are shrubs adapted to drought . These shrubs included gray sparrow's saltwort , gray sagebrush, and low grasses such as needle grass and bridle grass. Due to livestock grazing, the amount of shrubs in the desert has decreased .
