Mixed farming refers to the cultivation of food crops, and the rearing of livestock at the same time, on the same land. It is practiced in Europe, eastern USA, Argentina, south east Australia, New Zealand, West Africa and south Africa

It is the commercial rearing of livestock like cattle, sheep, goats for meat, milk, wool, and other products. It is practiced in temperate grasslands – the prairies of USA, the pampas of A rgentina, the veld of south Africa, The steppes of Eurasia and the downs of A ustralia. The animals are kept in huge farms called Ranches. The ranches are scientifically managed.

The Rearing of dairy cattle to produce milk and milk products. Dairy farming is practiced around urban areas. Modern machinery and scientific methods of breeding are used. Dairy farming is most common in the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Northeastern USA, Southeastern Australia and New Zealand. In India it started with Amul in Gujarat, and soon spread To all the other states of I ndia.

It has developed in the Mediterranean regions, where winter rain and summer drought. The south European countries like P ortugal, Spain, France, Italy, and G reece, have large Scale orchards. Orchard farming is a highly specialized commercial Agriculture. Viticulture or grape cultivation is also a specialty of the Mediterranean regions. Grapes are used for wine production.
