SOME TYPES OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS Supply Chain Management Systems : These are systems that are used to track the sequence of the following 3 sets of activities: Activities involved in procuring raw materials and equipment from suppliers Activities involved in producing products. Activities involved in distributing the finished products until they reach the final consumer
Customer Relationship Management Systems : These are information systems used in organizations to manage relations with their customers. They are used in combination with telephones to provide customer service. They are often linked to web applications that track online transactions. It uses email, social media and telephone to facilitate its activities.
Market Intelligence Systems (MIS): These are information systems for conducting market research. It is used in combination with telephone, email, and internet.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS): These are computer systems that town and country planning personnel use to map/zone locations to human activities. They typically use GPS to promote efficiency.
