Communication Different Message

What is Message? A message is a communication or statement conveyed from one person or group to another. Generally transmitted verbally or in writing, a message can also be sent via a look or a gesture. Messaging is a text-based, one-to-one conversation that usually occurs on a mobile device or platform like Facebook. Messenger, WhatsApp, SMS text messaging, or within an app.

What is an Informative Message? Most business communications are in fact “informative” messages. An informative message in the workplace is simply the sharing of meaningful information between people in an unbiased and professional manner. Informative messages can be short or long, formal or casual in tone, internal or external in focus, and direct or indirect in structure, depending on the situation. Like all forms of communication, the purpose of informative messages is to promote understanding, encourage action, stimulate thinking, or promote ideas.

Informative messages can take on almost any form of electronic communication: IMs, chats, emails, presentations, memos, blogs, podcasts, press releases, and reports. As was stated earlier in this module, the situation at hand will dictate how the message is crafted and how it is sent. Despite the variety of informative messages and how they can be sent, there are some guidelines that pertain to all effective business communication. Get to the main idea as quickly as possible. Use a greeting to identify the audience. Be clear and concise with the presentation of information. Check your message for grammatical errors. Include a call to action.

Short Informative Messages Short informative messages can take a variety of forms. For example, a quick communication to a teammate can utilize IM technology and provide a vehicle for a quick response. These messages tend to be more conversational in structure and resemble a chat more than an email or other document. Another form of a short informative message could be a Twitter message, or tweet. Tweets are better for communicating with larger audiences, possibly external as well; in fact, one of the primary uses of Twitter (by companies) is advertising and promoting their brands. (We discussed Twitter in more depth in Module 5,6: Social Media.). If the situation requires a more formal approach for your message, sending an email is usually more appropriate.

Long Informative Messages While long informative messages can be delivered through a variety of mediums, they will typically hit the same beats regardless of the delivery method. As with all business messages, it's important to keep concision in mind. While there certainly are more complex messages that require longer communications, remember to stay focused and only provide the information your audience needs. The situational context of a message is key to its success. Some messages will be targeted for internal employees with a specific call to action to use the text provided to expand a marketing effort. Others work as a means of communicating with customers and would-be customers to rebut apparent negative comments from competitors. Others may bring an collection of products and services together conceptually for greater understanding for the targeted audience. Still others will deliver lengthy product feature details in a casual, friendly, and unassuming manner.

Delivery Methods Long informative messages can utilize multiple communication vehicles. The primary delivery methods you'll run across are email, blog, presentation, and podcast. Emails can be considered the "default" delivery method for business messages. While they can be effective if written well (after all, they're delivered directly to the person you hope will receive the message), they can also appear bland if not executed correctly. A blog can be used to inform about, promote, and build a brand. It can also serve to personalize a brand by showcasing the perspectives of those who work at the company or it can serve to build a community by promoting the work of outside authors. Presentations are a great way to communicate large amounts of detailed information or utilize graphics to convey complex ideas to a defined audience. Graphics can be utilized to inform the audience of several connected ideas. Podcasts can be quite effective as informative messages. They give businesses an opportunity to engage in more casual conversation, but they can still be packed with very detailed functionality information about how the products or applications work and serve customers.

Team-Focused Messages Teams are becoming the standard vehicle of productivity in the workplace; therefore, team-building and team focused messages are more important than ever. We will explore how team-focused messages can be crafted to be most effective. Also, we will focus on what means are used to allow teams to communicate across locations. Team-focused communication messages can take a variety of forms including IM, text, chat, email, video, audio, and document sharing. Team-focused messages can be short or long, casual or formal, but they must always be professional. Since teams are usually geographically distributed, virtual and/or remote,  companies must provide the tools and platforms to promote and facilitate team communication.

Long Team-Focused Message When considering how to communicate a large amount of information to your team, it is a good idea to step back and consider which channel would be best, not only to send your message but also to allow for your colleagues to comment and interact with the rest of the team. Here is an example of a long message to a technical team sent via email.

Short Team-Focused Message Since interactivity is key to teamwork, a ‘chat’ environment is a great team-focused communication platform. Short team messages can be sent such as status updates, meeting requests, notes of appreciation, or an invitation to a social event after work. Giving the team a way to respond as a group can be important, in order to get everyone’s ideas and opinions in the same message thread. A short team-focused message can also be in the form of an email, especially for quick file attachment sharing to multiple team members, though this can be done in some team chat platforms as well.

What is the definition of criticism The noun criticism is most often used to describe negative commentary about something or someone, but it's just as correct to use criticism to mean "an examination or judgment." Critics who review books and movies consider their reviews to be criticism, whether they're positive or negative. So the criticism you receive doesn't have to be all about your faults; it can actually be a pleasant experience.

Webster's defines is as “the act of expressing disapproval and of noting the problems or faults of a person or thing; the act of criticizing someone or something; a remark or comment that expresses disapproval of someone or something.” Criticism in the workplace is generally imagined as situations around a manager and a subordinate, but it is not limited to that. Constructive, sometimes negative, thoughts and comments can also be applied to the actions of colleagues, customers, or vendors—basically persons, groups or things that do not meet the expectations of the beholder.

3) Positive Criticism :T his is the one that draws attention to a good aspect of something which is not being taken into consideration. Positive criticism may be overlooked by people who see the only the negative side of something that is why it becomes of paramount importance to highlight the positive side. Positive criticism may also be considered a type of self-defense. Positive criticism is also used as constructive feedback .

4) Factual Criticism : When an objection what an argument is raised about an idea situation watches something wrong in it with the proof which is relevant to it is called as Factual criticism. It is often seen that when relevant facts are referred as wrong and these facts are said not to be true that is their truth has not been established and also the fact that is mentioned imply different stories which cannot be reconciled. Factual criticism along with logical criticism is generally considered crucial to ensure consistency predictability and authenticity in the behavior of any manner. To make sense one has to have consistency and predictability of behavior without which there are disorientation and confusion and therefore it cannot guide to making effective choices.

5. Constructive Criticism :T his type of Criticism aims to show the purpose of something which is but achieved by a different approach. These criticisms are often considered as tips for improvement that is how could things be better and be done in a more acceptable way.

6) Destructive Criticism :  The goal of destructive criticism is to destroy the criticized target by making destructive criticism. Example, you should close your business and look for a job. The target is to show that the point of view of the other person likes merit and has no validity in the eyes of any person. Destructive criticism is also regarded as an undeniable nuisance especially if it involves a personal attack on others. Destructive Criticism as a destructive effect and not a positive effect which is why it is often criticized. Destructive criticism may be useful to save resources and lives in political and military contexts. An idea is not considered to be dangerous but an idea which is proposed in a certain context can be dangerous. When people and property are physically destroyed that is when ultimate destructive witticism occurs. The term destructive criticism also implies that the intensity or scope of Criticism is to the extent that it becomes destructive.

Although the intention may be different it may be interpreted in that way. Negative criticism may have a bad effect on people who take it seriously. People who insulted react badly to it. Much of it depends on the quantity of negative criticism that is transferred to the other person because some people can handle negative criticism up to a certain extent beyond which it is taken as an insult. The downside of negative criticism is that it shows and tells people what to do, rather than telling them what they should do what they are able to do with my sound disabling and not at all encouraging.

Practical criticism is nothing but an experience which is obtained first hand which reveals the reason behind why an action is wrong and what are the conditions under which it may succeed. Often doubts and concerns are raised about the practicality and applicability of an idea when someone voices it out. It is seen that practical criticism was more effective when people are concerned with the practical nature of the problem.

9) Theoretical Criticism : When the criticism is concerned with the meaning of ideas or which are based on practicality is called theoretical criticism. It is concerned with the relevance of a theory and its application to reality along with its validity, limitations and its purpose. The theory is criticized from the point of view of others or internally or in terms of experimental evidence or also its usefulness for modern implications to the action and human behavior. Theoretical criticism is not simply whether a particular idea makes sense or not but it is about the fact that whether it makes sense and is consistent along with its theoretical framework. The usefulness of a theory can be determined by its help for others to guide through the activity or if it helps to make sense of things. The theory with great power is a theory which is able to account every single evidence not excluding a single one.

10) Private and Public Criticism : The criticism can be expressed privately or publicly. The most private criticism is only in the minds of the critic as well as the most obvious reason of not expressing a criticism is that the critic believes public knowledge of a certain criticism would be harmful either for him or for others. The main difference between private and public criticism is vague and there are various interpretations of absolutely public and absolutely private. Yet criticism is accessible publicly it remains unknown because it is available in rather an obscure place or because people avoid looking at it. Criticism may already be present before someone finds out and presents it publicly.

The degree of Criticism which is made private or public depends on the legal norms for expressing criticism. Therefore, the degree to which criticism may be accessible is influenced by moral considerations and the human or commercial interests which are at stake. Criticisms can also be expressed anonymously under a different name in which case The Identity of the criticizer remains unknown and if the criticism exists in public then the whereabouts of the criticizer remain private. Criticism also travels faster through grapevine communications although they may be ignored because everybody knows what they are since the seniors already communicated the criticism informally.

The primary focus of scientific criticism is on whether an idea can be proven true or false what are the limits of weather application irrespective of whether people like them or not.
