Communication According to John W. Newstrom (n.d), Communication is the transfer of information from one person to another. He believes that it is a way of reaching other by transmitting idea, facts, thoughts, feelings and values.

Types of communication based on the communication channels used are: There are two type of communication based on channels : Verbal Communications Non-verbal Communication

• Verbal Communication Verbal Communication refers to the form of communication in which message is transmitted verbally; Communication is done by word of mouth and writting. Objective of every communication is to have people understand understand what we are trying to convey.

Verbal Communication is of two types: Oral Communication : In oral communication we use spoken words to communicate with others. 2.It is an informal communication For Ex. Face to face communication, voice chat, voice calling, radio,etc.

2. Written Communication : In written communication we write words or message to communicate. A written message may be printed or hand written For Ex. Letter, report, memo, bulletines, job description, etc are used for internal communication. electronic mail, internet websites, letters, faxes, news release are used for external communication.

Non Verbal Communications According to McConnell, (2003), nonverbal communication is behavior, other than spoken or written communication, that creates or represents meaning. In other words, it includes facial expressions, body movements, and gestures. Nonverbal communication is talking without speaking a word . It is very effective, maybe even more so than speech.

Types of Non Verbal Communication 1.Facial Expressions: The fellings which we express through our face are facial expressions. For Ex. Anger, Happiness, Sad, etc. 2.Gestures: In this type of communication we include our body movements like moving of hands, face & other part of body. 3.Postures: Postures include the way of walking, sitting, standing, etc

4.Proximity: Proximity is all about a person’s positioning and their space in relation to others. Various factors impact how closely we sit or stand next to someone. 5.Touch: The use if touch for express our emotions, sympathy. It is also a non verbal communication. 6.Personal Appearance: Our choice of color, clothing, hairstyles, and other factors affecting appearance are also considered a means of nonverbal communication. 7.Silence: Sometime being silence we convey a message to other. It is most powerful form of communication.

Considerate Communication Style Very concerned about the feelings of others . Please other people (to be included in their peer group) Like to work with other and connect to other on a personal level. The once to attempt to mediate any conflict in the group. Want everyone to have the chance to speak their minds .have their turns,and recive recognition for their contribution

Tips For Communicating If You Have a Considerate Communication Style Recognize that other people’s opinions about a topic are separate from their opinions about you. Realize that not everyone is comfortable discussing personal topics with work colleagues; allow others to open personal topics before asking questions. Respect your own opinion as you respect others opinions. Recognize that you don’t have to be friends with everyone, but you should treat others and be treated professionally.

Tips For Communicating With People Who Have a Considerate Communication Style When possible, reassure them that your opinions are not personal. Express a sincere interest in their feelings, thoughts and personal life. Encourage them to ask questions and share their opinions. Let them know that you appreciate their help. Resolve any conflicts quickly. Whenever possible, use requests instead of imperatives in discussing the needed change.
