There are seven ways in this presentation on how to
improve listening skills. Good listening is an essential part
of active communication and makes us better managers,
customers, coworkers, supervisors, parents and mates.
Most of us aren't good listeners; however, listening is a
skill that you can always improve.
Introduction of Listening skills:
The act of hearing attentively is called listening.
■ Listening is a process of receiving and interpreting the
spoken words.
■ It involves hearing, understanding, comprehending,
analyzing and interacting.
What is listening?
Definition of the listening by scholars:
"The skill of listening has four components :
clarification, paraphrasing, reflecting and
summarizing."

"Listening is a process of receiving, interpreting and reaching
to the message received from the communication sender."
- M V Rodriques
Three Steps :
1) Hearing
2) Understanding
3) Judging
Hearing, auditory perception, or audition is the
ability to perceive sound by detecting vibrations,
changes in the pressure of the surrounding
medium through time, through an organ such as
the ear.
1. Hearing :-
For decades, there are complaints about people
lacking of listening skills.
Even though listening is the communication skill
we use most frequently, it is also the skill in which
we've had the least training.

After you are sure you understand what the
speaker has said, think about whether it makes
sense. Do you believe what you have heard?
