WHAT IS COMMUNISM? Extreme form of socialism in which “all people” own the means of production as the state “withers away” and produces classless society. The word “Communism” comes from the Latin word “Communis” which means common or belonging to all .
Communism Lays stress on providing education to all sections of the society, i.e., universal education Equalization of educational opportunity is the Communist education goal Education is the greatest instrument of social change.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES IN COMMUNISM: No discrimination will be made in respect of education opportunities. Education is be given to all of the society irrespective of caste, creed, sex social and economic status.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES IN COMMUNISM: Common education is to be provided to both men and women. Coeducation is an accepted principle in communism. Education will be universal and compulsory.
CURRICULUM IN EDUCATION: Communist philosophy and doctrines will be taught at the levels of education on compulsory basis. The students should be made conscious about class division, unequal distribution of wealth, exploitation of the working class by the capitalist class, etc. Those subject are included in the curriculums which tend to develop skill instead of abstract knowledge.
CURRICULUM IN EDUCATION: Communism lays stress on respect for the labor and, as such, work-experience is regarded as an integral part of education. The curriculum includes the socially useful subjects such as science, mathematics, geography, life science, pedagogy, astronomy etc. All the primary level, only the mother-tongue should be taught. But at the secondary level the curriculum should include foreign language. Creative works and co-curricular activities have been given an important place in Communist curriculum. This include physical activities, music, painting, games and sports etc.
METHODOLOGY OF TEACHING IN COMMUINISM Emphasis is laid on political aspect of education instead of theoretical aspect. Communist education is based on the principle of learning by doing. Students should work both in the agricultural farms and factories. Education should not be confined within the four walls of the school. The natural environment and the community at large will also serve as great books and teachers.
METHODOLOGY OF TEACHING IN COMMUINISM Communist education emphasis learning through personal experience of the child. It emphasizes group activity instead of individual activity. Communist education intends to promote cooperative spirit instead of competitive spirit among students.
ROLE OF TEACHER ON COMMUNIST EDUCATION The role of the teacher is significant and crucial in Communist education. He must be fully equipped not only with the content of education but also the Communist methodology of teaching as well as Communist aims of education. Communist teacher must entirely be different in attitude and temperament from a bourgeois teacher. His philosophy of teaching will be the communist philosophy. He must be active member of the communist social order.
ROLE OF TEACHER ON COMMUNIST EDUCATION According to Lenin, a best Communist worker can only be at best Communist teacher. Both in thought and action he must be a true Communist. He should not have only mastery on the content of education but also have consciousness about life. Social environment and communist ideology. He should possess sound health, respect for cultural heritage, deep practical sense, socialistic bent of mind and true patriotism.
DEMOCRATIC Democratic education infuses the learning process. It is an educational ideas in which democracy is both a goal and a method of instruction. It brings democratic values to education and can include self-determination within a community of equals. The purpose of education in a democratic society is to instill the values of cooperation, respect, fairness and justice into the heart of democratic education.
FREEDOM FOR ALL The concepts of choice and control are at the heart of democratic education. Choice. The ability to have autonomy in the direction of one’s own educational path, and control, the ability to decide how to approach major educational needs, are the two main principles of democratic education.
STUDENT- CENTERED Student-centered learning refers to a wide variety of educational programs, learning experiences, instructional approaches, and academic-support strategies that are intended to address the distinct learning needs, interests, aspirations, or cultural backgrounds of individual students and groups of students. It sees young learners not as passive recipients of knowledge, but rather as active co-creators of their own learning.
The Administration must be flexible, adaptable and stable An institution must be able to adjust with changing situations by fulfilling the developing needs and by improving its day-to-day dealing with persons or agencies involved. The characteristics of an institutions is called adaptability.
GOAL: to change, to develop and to improve In the process of achieving its educational objectives, it has to deal differently with different human beings like teachers, parents and the public at large who are affected in one way or other by the process or its product. This tendency is called flexibility.
Flexible education system Enable learners to move within and across education, training and employment. Flexibility means that young people can adapt their learning pathway as they go along to suit their interest and abilities.
stability The educational institution however must be able to achieve adaptability without creating any dislocation or disruption in its process and achievements. Promote educational stability for children in foster care so they can continue their education without disruption, maintain important relationships, and have the opportunity to achieve college and career readiness.
