Background Information and Related Statistics Industrial urban areas with close proximity to Vietnam’s largest industrial parks(Tsunami IP, Vietnam-Singapore IP, etc.) Close proximity to Vietnam’s largest economic powerhouses and industrial areas.

Problems Not En ough Schools Schools are bad, Infr astructure is old and poorly maintained. → because public funding has to be poured into other things(new school, roads, hospitals, industrial parks, etc.) High level of inequality(between migrated workers and the locals)

Solutions: Proposals 2. Free Massive Open Online Courses(MOOCs) on English and other subjects
Solutions: the logic Local students are eager to contribute and participate. Student-led activities: student-student tutor, study groups, local education projects, expansive education project, artistic activity, small business, etc. Good complementary for incomplete formal education system. Utilize the Vietnamese culture of enjoying community activities. Students are more familiar to online learning than ever thanks to Covid-19. Perhaps children waste their time playing game because they don’t have any other fun things to do. MOOCs are easy to scale and cheap. True learning is communal, not individual.
Solutions: fundings Government Local Crowdfunding (the vietnamese love doing charity) Donations from industries.
Solutions: expectations Community building Improve school retention rates and rates of student pursuing higher education Highly educated and skilled population offer industries great benefits. Create demand for more schools(both public and private) Fill the English gap -> students can utilize MOOCs in English to learn whatever they want. -> long-term benefits Attract more attention to education among the population Overall, lowering education inequality Increase social mobility Lower criminal rate Reduce inequality Long-term productivity growth
Solutions: difficulties How to run these CLCs effectively? How to scale? Can’t completely eradicate education inequality Some children just don’t have the time Making sure that all the benefits are inclusive is hard Designing MOOCs that are actually useful and motivating for the student is hard.
