Comparing Inkjet and Laser Printers By Kelly Printing Supplies
Introduction Headquartered in Las Vegas, Kelly Printing Supplies is a family-owned distributor of computer printing supplies. The company assigns specific sales representatives to established customers in order to build and maintain close, long-term business relationships. Kelly Printing Supplies sells a wide range of products, including toner, photocopier products, and laser and inkjet printer cartridges.
Inkjet vs Laser Printers When shopping for a budget printer for home or small office use, one of the first choices to make is whether to buy an inkjet printer or a laser printer. Inkjet printers work by spraying liquid ink onto the paper, whereas laser printers use powder-filled toner cartridges and a heated fuser to achieve the same result. Both have advantages and disadvantages and suit different needs.
Inkjet vs Laser Printers (continued) The initial purchase of an inkjet printer costs far less. Inkjet cartridges are also cheaper on the whole, but need to be replaced far more frequently, and the cost per page on a laser printer is generally about half that of an inkjet. In terms of printing speed, laser printers are unmatched. Even budget models can print up to 20 pages per minute. Inkjet printers are significantly slower, rarely printing more than six pages per minute. In terms of quality, laser and inkjet printers produce equally good results at normal print sizes, but laser printers are significantly better than inkjet when it comes to printing small fonts.
Conclusion However, basic laser printers can usually print only black-and-white documents, while many basic inkjet printers can print in color. Color laser printers are bulky and expensive when compared to budget inkjet printers.
