INTRODUCTION 01 Why is Internet so popular?
Why is Internet so Popular? The Internet has become an inseparable part of our daily lives. The network of interconnected computers has enabled individuals , businesses , and governments to connect with each other regardless of location. It is hard to imagine a day without the internet, as we use it for communication , research , entertainment , and many other tasks. The popularity of the internet can be attributed to various reasons, some of which are discussed in this PowerPoint Presentation .
REASONS FOR INTERNET’S POPULARITY: ACCESSIBILITY: The internet has become more accessible over time, and more individuals are able to access it through devices such as smartphones and tablets. This has made it easier for individuals to connect with each other, access information, and benefit from online services. 01

HISTORY OF INTERNET 2
HISTORY OF INTERNET The Internet has revolutionized how we access and share information, communicate with one another, and conduct business, and we often take it for granted. However, the Internet has a rich and fascinating history that started over 50 years ago.
The Internet's roots can be traced back to the early 1960s , when the United States Department of Defense’s Advanced Research Projects Agency ( ARPA ) began developing a communication network that allowed researchers to share data with one another. Known as the ARPANET , this network was designed to be decentralized so that communication could be maintained even if portions of the network were destroyed.
By the late 1960s , the ARPANET had grown to include universities and government agencies, and email became the first application to be developed for the network. In the early 1970s , researchers began working on ways to make the ARPANET more efficient, which led to the development of packet switching technology . This technology allowed data to be broken up into small packets that could be sent along different routes to their final destination, which increased the reliability and efficiency of the network .
During the 1980s , the ARPANET was split into separate networks, and other networks were developed, including BITNET , which was designed for academic users, and CSNET , which was designed for general use. In 1989 , Tim Berners-Lee developed the World Wide Web while working at CERN , the European Particle Physics Laboratory. The World Wide Web made it easier to access and share information through a system of hyperlinked documents and websites.
In the 1990s , the Internet grew exponentially as more and more people gained access to it, first through dial-up connections and then through broadband . The development of web browsers , such as Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer , made it easier for people to access the World Wide Web . In addition, online portals , such as AOL , Yahoo! , and Google , made it easier for people to search for information on the Internet.
APPLICATIONS OF INTERNET The Internet has many important applications. Of the various services available via the Internet, the three most important are e-mail, web browsing, and peer-to-peer services . E-mail, also known as electronic mail, is the most widely used and successful of Internet applications.
