THE ALT COMBO
If you simply press the Alt key you will be shown few key tips (as shown in the image) using which
you can navigate the interface and its tools.
Alt-F Opens the File menu

Alt-Esc Minimizes MS Paint interface
Alt-Spacebar Equivalent to right-clicking on the title bar

F1 Open Paint Help

Right Arrow Move the selection or active shape right by one pixel

MS Access: General Shortcut Keys
The following is a list of general shortcuts or hot keys in Access:

Selecting and Navigating Text, Objects, and Slides
You can use keyboard shortcuts to navigate throughout your presentation easily. Try these
shortcuts for quick and easy ways to select text within text boxes, objects on your slides, or slides
in your presentation.
Ctrl+A: Select all text in a text box, all objects on a slide, or all slides in a presentation (for the
latter, click on a slide thumbnail first)
Tab: Select or move to the next object on a slide
Shift+Tab: Select or move to the previous object on a slide
Home: Go to the first slide, or from within a text box, go to the beginning of the line
End: Go to the last slide, or from within a text box, go to the end of the line
PgDn: Go to the next slide
PgUp: Go the previous slide
Ctrl+Up/Down Arrow: Move a slide up or down in your presentation (click on a slide
thumbnail first)
Ctrl+Shift+Up/Down Arrow: Move a slide to the beginning or end of your presentation (click
on a slide thumbnail first)
Formatting and Editing
The following keyboard shortcuts will save you time so you can edit and format in a snap!
Ctrl+X: Cut selected text, selected object(s), or selected slide(s)
Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Insert: Copy selected text, selected object(s), or selected slide(s)
Ctrl+V or Shift+Insert: Paste selected text, selected object(s), or selected slide(s)
Ctrl+Alt+V: Open the Paste Special dialog box
Delete: Remove selected text, selected object(s), or selected slide(s)
Ctrl+B: Add or remove bold to selected text
Ctrl+I: Add or remove italics to selected text
Ctrl+U: Add or remove underline to selected text
Ctrl+E: Center a paragraph
Ctrl+J: Justify a paragraph

Helpful Slideshow Shortcuts
When you’re ready to start a presentation, the following keyboard combos should come in handy.
F5: Start the presentation from the beginning
Shift+F5: Start the presentation from the current slide (this one is great when you want to test
out how the slide your currently working on will look in your presentation)
Ctrl+P: Annotate with the Pen tool during a slideshow
N or Page Down: Advance to the next slide during a slideshow
P or Page Up: Return to the previous slide during a slide show
B: Change the screen to black during a slideshow; press B again to return to the slideshow
Esc: End the slideshow
MS Excel shortcut keys
General Program Shortcuts
First, let’s take a look at some general keyboard shortcuts for manipulating workbooks, getting
help, and a few other interface-related actions.
Ctrl+N: Create a new workbook
Ctrl+O: Open an existing workbook
Ctrl+S: Save a workbook
F12: Open the Save As dialog box
Ctrl+W: Close a workbook
Ctrl+F4: Close Excel
F4: Repeat the last command or action. For example, if the last thing you typed in a cell is
“hello,” or if you change the font color, clicking another cell and pressing F4 repeats that action
in the new cell.

Ctrl+Z: Undo an action
Ctrl+Y: Redo an action
Ctrl+F2: Switch to Print Preview

Moving Around in a Worksheet or Cell
You can use keyboard shortcuts to easily navigate throughout your worksheet, within a cell, or
throughout your entire workbook.
Left/Right Arrow: Move one cell to the left or right
Ctrl+Left/Right Arrow: Move to the farthest cell left or right in the row
Up/Down Arrow: Move one cell up or down
Ctrl+Up/Down Arrow: Move to the top or bottom cell in the column
Tab: Go to the next cell
Shift+Tab: Go to the previous cell
Ctrl+End: Go to the most bottom right used cell
F5: Go to any cell by pressing F5 and typing the cell coordinate or cell name.
Home: Go to the leftmost cell in the current row (or go to the beginning of the cell if editing a
cell)
Ctrl+Home: Move to the beginning of a worksheet
Page Up/Down: Move one screen up or down in a worksheet
Alt+Page Up/Down: Move one screen to the right or left in a worksheet
Ctrl+Page Up/Down: Move to the previous or next worksheet
Selecting Cells
You may have noticed from the previous section you use the arrow keys to move between cells,
and the Ctrl key to modify that movement. Using the Shift key to modify the arrow keys lets you
extend your selected cells. There are also a few other combos for speeding up selection, as well.
Shift+Left/Right Arrow: Extend the cell selection to the left or right
Shift+Space: Select the entire row
Ctrl+Space: Select the entire column
Ctrl+Shift+Space: Select the entire worksheet
Editing Cells
Excel also provides some keyboard shortcuts for editing cells.
F2: Edit a cell
Shift+F2: Add or edit a cell comment
Ctrl+X: Cut contents of a cell, selected data, or selected cell range
Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Insert: Copy contents of a cell, selected data, or selected cell range
Ctrl+V or Shift+Insert: Paste contents of a cell, selected data, or selected cell range
Ctrl+Alt+V: Open the Paste Special dialog box
Delete: Remove the contents of a cell, selected data, or selected cell range
Alt+Enter: Insert a hard return within a cell (while editing a cell)
F3: Paste a cell name (if cells are named in the worksheet)
Alt+H+D+C: Delete column
Esc: Cancel an entry in a cell or the formula bar
Enter: Complete an entry in a cell or the formula bar
Formatting Cells
Ready to format some cells? These keyboard shortcuts make it easier!
Ctrl+B: Add or remove bold to the contents of a cell, selected data, or selected cell range
Ctrl+I: Add or remove italics to the contents of a cell, selected data, or selected cell range
Ctrl+U: Add or remove underline to the contents of a cell, selected data, or selected cell range
Alt+H+H: Select a fill color
Alt+H+B: Add a border
Ctrl+Shift+&: Apply outline border
Ctrl+Shift+_ (Underline): Remove outline border
Ctrl+9: Hide the selected rows
Ctrl+0: Hide the selected columns
Ctrl+1: Open the Format Cells dialog box
Ctrl+5: Apply or remove strikethrough
Ctrl+Shift+$: Apply currency format
Ctrl+Shift+%: Apply percent format
Function keys
F1is mostly used as the help key. Almost every program will open the help
screen when this key is pressed.
F2 Rename a selected file.
F3Often opens a search feature for many programs including Microsoft
Windows.
F4Opens find window.
F6This key is often used to move the cursor to the Address bar Mozilla
Firefox or Internet Explorer.
F7Commonly used to spell check and grammar check a document in Microsoft
programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, etc.
Shift + F7 runs a Thesaurus check on the word highlighted.
F8The F8 key can be used to access Safe Mode if pressed during the
computer's boot up process.
F9Users have no use of this key in Windows, but if you press this key in MS
Word you will update the selected fields.
SHIFT + F9 = Switch between a field code and its result.
CTRL + F9 = Insert an empty field.
CTRL + SHIFT + F9 = Unlink a field
ALT + F9 = Switch between all field codes and their results
ALT + SHIFT + F9 = Run GoButton or Macrobutton from the field that
displays the field results.
F10is the key that is used to activate the menu bar in many programs. F10
can be used to highlight the first menu choice, and then use the arrow keys
to move around the men us.
F11Full-screen mode in all modern Internet browsers - Pressing F11 when
you are working in Internet Explorer will open the window to full screen
mode. All the tool bars disappears making it possible to see more information
on the screen. Pressing F11 w hen you are in full screen mode will toggle you
back to your normal view.
F12
Open the Save as dialog box in Microsoft Word.
Shift + F12 save the Microsoft Word document.
Ctrl + Shift + F12 print a document in Microsoft Word.
