Cloud Computing By Sugapriya
Analogy: Compare to utilities like electricity-you only pay for what you use. What is Cloud Computing? Services include: Storage, databases, networking, software, analytics and intelligence. Definition : Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services over the internet.
Types of Cloud Computing Public Cloud: Services are delivered over the public internet and shared across organizations. Examples: (AWS),Microsoft Azure,(GCP). Private Cloud: Services are maintained on a private network. Used by businesses with specific security needs. Hybrid Cloud: Combination of public and private clouds. Offers flexibility and more deployment options.
Cloud Service Models Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS): Provides virtualized computing resources over the internet. Examples: AWS EC2,Google Compute Engine. 2. Platform as a Service(PaaS): Provides a platform allowing customers to develop, run, and manage applications. Examples: Google App Engine,Microsoft Azure. 3. Software as a Service(SaaS): Delivers software applications over the internet on a subscription basis. Examples: Google Workspace,Microsoft Office 365.
Key Characteristics of Cloud Computing On-Demand Self-Services: Users can provision resources as needed. Broad Network Access: Services are available over the network and accessed through standard mechanisms. Resource Pooling: Provider’s computing resources are pooled to serve multiple consumers. Rapid Elasticity: Capabilities can be elastically provisioned and released. Measured Service: Resources usage is monitored, controlled, and reported.
Benefits of Cloud Computing Cost Efficiency: Reduces the cost of managing and maintaining IT systems. Scalability: Easily scale resources up or down based on demand. Performance: Access to high-performance computing resources. Speed and Agility: Quickly deploy and manage applications. Security: Many cloud providers offer robust security measures.
Challenges and Concerns Security and Privacy: Concerns over data security and privacy. Downtime: Risk of outages and downtime. Compliance: Ensuring compliance with various regulatory standards. Cost Management: Managing and optimizing Cloud Spending. Vendor Lock-In: Difficulty in migrating services between providers.
