Definition Of BI Bladder Irrigation is A Procedure To Wash Out The Inside Of The Bladder

PURPOSE OF CBI To Prevent Blood Clot Formation, Allow Free Flow Of Urine And Maintain Indwelling Catheter { IDC } Patency, By Continuously Irrigating The Bladder With Normal Saline.

Equipment Needed For (CBI ) Sterile Irrigating Solution (Normal Saline) Sterile Drainage Tubing And Bag In Place Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Sterile Antiseptic Swab 3- Way Catheter In-situ Underpad IV Pole Gloves

PROCEDURES 1. Explain procedure to the patient and ensure patient privacy. 2. Wash Hands. 3. Put on Gloves and PPE As Necessary. 4. Hang irrigation flasks on IV pole and prime irrigation set with maintaining asepsis of irrigation set . 5. Position the patient for easy access to the catheter with maintaining patient comfort.

6. Ensure That The Patient Has A Three-way Urinary Catheter. 7. Place Underpad Underneath Catheter Connection 8. Swab IDC Irrigation And Catheter Ports With Alcohol Swabs And Allow To Dry. 9. Open The Irrigation Lumen Of The Catheter. PROCEDURES

10. Connect the irrigation set to the irrigation lumen of the catheter with maintaining clean procedure. 11. Ensure urine is draining freely before commencing continuous irrigation. 12. Unclamp the irrigation flask that was used to prime the irrigation set and set the rate of administration by adjusting the roller clamp. PROCEDURES
