GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC PALANPUR PREERED BY: KHANACHIYA AJAY - 136260306514 CHAUDHARY JIVABHAI - 136260306507 GUIDANCE BY: Prof D.N.SHETH Prof Y.T.RANA TOPIC:- Conveying Equipment

Types of Conveying Equipment Conveyors Bucket Chutes Buggies

types of Conveyors Belt conveyor Roller conveyor Chain or cable conveyor Pipe line conveyor Screw conveyor Elevating conveyor Wheel conveyor Roller conveyor Chain conveyor Slat conveyor Flat belt conveyor Magnetic belt conveyor Troughed belt conveyor

Conveyors Conveyors are used: • When material is to be moved frequently between specific points • To move materials over a fixed path • When there is a sufficient flow volume to justify the fixed conveyor investment Conveyors can be classified in different ways : Type of product being handled: unit load or bulk load Location of the conveyor: in-floor, on-floor, or overhead Whether loads can accumulate on the conveyor or no accumulation is possible

Belt conveyor Application Belt conveyor is one of the most common from of material handling system used in mining industries and in construction project. Heavy industries like steel, fertilizer, chemical and cement etc. cannot function without the belt conveyors. In construction project the belt conveyors are used for handling the materials in asphalt plants , crushing and screening plants ,aggregate mixing plant etc. in coal mining and other mining industries these are used for handling of coal or other raw material . the belt conveyors are capable of conveying large quantities of material continuously over long distances at a fast speed .

Belt Conveyor Components BELT Rubber belt is the costliest single component in the system conveyor belt consists of a carcass imbedded in rubber. The carcass is made up of plies or layers of fabric bonded together and carried tension and absorbs impact. FEEDERS These are used to deliver the material to a belt at a uniform rate. It may deliver the material onto the belt either directly or through a chute in order to reduce the impact of falling material.

PULLEYS AND IDLERS pulleys are generally located at the terminals of a belt conveyors, where they sort the belt and transmit driving power. The conveyor belt are supported on idlers, between the terminals. DRIVES Nearly all belt conveyors are driven by electric motors. Speed reduction may be achieved by chain and sprockets, V belt or gearing. MOTORS AND CONTROLS Squirrel cage and wound rotor type motors are commonly used in conveyors. The motor for a conveyor belt drive must have sufficient torque to overcome the starting friction of the system.

Belt Conveyor parameters:- Standard length 8 to 2000m Width 500 to 1200mm. Output 1-200 t/hour Requirement of Belt Conveyors:- High strength Small elongation Long service life High Flexibility Low self weight

ADVANTAGES It is capable of handling light or heavy, fine or coarse , wet or dry material. It can handle , thousands of tone of material per hour for several km. It can handle hot material up to 160 c or so. It is lighter in weight, and consumes less power. It operates without noise. It can carry the material horizontally or in an inclination. It is used for carrying the material over rough country, where use of other means is difficult and costly.

Unit + On-Floor + Accumulate May be powered (or live) or non powered (or gravity) Materials must have a rigid riding surface Minimum of three rollers must support smallest loads at all times Tapered rollers on curves used to maintain load orientation Parallel roller configuration can be used as a (roller) pallet conveyor Roller conveyor

Chain conveyor Unit + In-/On-Floor + No Accumulation Uses one or more endless chains on which loads are carried directly Parallel chain configuration used as (chain) pallet conveyor or as a pop-up device for sortation (see Sortation conveyor: Pop-up devices) Vertical chain conveyor used for continuous high-frequency vertical transfers, where material on horizontal platforms attached to chain link

Unit + On-Floor + Accumulate Uses a series of skatewheels mounted on a shaft (or axle) Spacing of the wheels is dependent on the load being transported Slope for gravity movement depends on load weight More economical than the roller conveyor For light-duty applications Flexible, expandable mobile versions available Wheel conveyor

Slat conveyor Unit + In-/On-Floor + No Accumulation Uses discretely spaced slats connected to a chain Unit being transported retains its position (like a belt conveyor) Orientation and placement of the load is controlled Used for heavy loads or loads that might damage a belt Bottling and canning plants use flat chain or slat conveyors because of wet conditions, temperature, and cleanliness requirements

2) BUCKETS (conveyor) Application Bucket conveyor are used for vertical transportation of bulk and small grain size material. The conveyor are used in foog, agriculture, pharmaceutical, cosmestics, chemical, ceramic, and glass industry, but also for transportation of bulk material in heavy industry The conveyors allow vertical transportation. The material transport is without spillage and contamination , the closed conveyor design prevents dusting. Variety of configuration allows installation of the bucket conveyors on sites with very limited space .

Types of bucket Belt Bucket Parameters :- Standard length of belt up to 20m. Width 300 to 1200mm Output 10 – 1000t/hour 2) Chain Bucket Parameters:-- :- Standard length of chain 0.5 to3m. Width 300 to 1200mm Output 1– 1000t/hod Standard delivered and produced bucket :- Plastic Iron steel

The chute conveyor is one of the least expensive method of conveying material. It is the simplest example of gravity-operated conveyor. Chute conveyor is used to provide accumulation in shipping areas; a spiral chute can be used to convey items between floors with minimum amount of space required. While the chute conveyor s are economical, the main limitation of chute conveyor is the lack of control over the item being conveyed. These are required to transfer material from one piece of equipment to another. 3) Chute Application

4) Buggies Use for concrete transport. Two types 1) Motor buggies

2) Hand buggies
