Countable Nouns They are are nouns that we can count using numbers. Examp : A car. Two cars They have a singular form and a plural form . Examp : Banana – bananas We use the the article A / An with singular countable nouns. Examp : She is a Doctor. That is a pencil. I eating an apple.

Do not put A / An before plural nouns. Instead, use plural countable nouns alone. Examp : I like bananas.

A / AN A Before singular count nouns that begin with consonant . Examp : She is a photographer. He is a teacher. It’s a hat. An Before singular count nouns that begin with a vowel sound . Examp : She is an artist. He is an engineer. It’s an umbrella.

SOME It is used with plural countable nouns and uncountable nouns . Examp : There is some milk in the fridge (milk = uncountable noun) I did some exercises . (exercises = plural countable noun)

SOME We use some in questions when we ask for things and offer things . Examp : OFFERS : Would you like  some tea ? ( tea  = uncountable noun) REQUEST/ASK: Could you give me some advice , please? (advice = uncountable noun) We also use  some  in a question when we think the answer will be 'yes’. Examp : Have you got  some  new glasses?

Uncountable Nouns They are nouns that we cannot count them and cannot be combined with numbers. Examp : Information NOTE: If you want to express a quantity, you have to use a special phrase e.g.  a glass of water . They do not have plural forms, they have just one form Examp : Rice – Rice

They may be the names for abstract ideas or qualities or for physical objects that are too small or too amorphous to be counted (liquids, powders, gases, etc.). Examp : Rice, Sand, water, etc. Uncountable Nouns

ANY We use any for questions with countable or uncountable nouns Example : Is there any milk ? ( milk = uncountable noun ) Do you have any tomatoes ? ( tomatoes = countable nouns ) Or negative sentences using countable and uncountable nouns : Example : There isn´t any chicken in the freezer ( chicken = countable noun ) She doesn´t have any money ( money = uncountable noun )

Any can be used in a positive sentence to mean 'it's not important which one'. When we use any in this way, it's most often used with singular countable nouns: Example: You can take any bus. Pass me any glass. Come over any Sunday . If I do not see apples or if I am not sure whether there are apples at all I use  any  in this question. Example: Do you have any  apples?

HOW MUCH? How much water is there in that glass? If you want to ask about the quantity of an uncountable noun , you ask "How much?“ Example: -I need sugar - How much ? - We need oil to prepare the empanadas - How much ? How much rice do you want?

HOW MUCH? How much  is used with uncountable nouns. HOW MUCH + UNCOUNTABLE NOUN How much  time do we have to finish the test? How much  money did you spend? How much  sugar would you like in your coffee? How much  paper will I need? How much  milk is in the fridge? How much  traffic was there on the way to work?

HOW MUCH ...? - (Price) How much  can also be used when we want to know the PRICE of something. In this case, we can use  How much  with countable nouns (both singular and plural nouns). How much  is that painting? How much  are those shoes? How much  did your jacket cost? How much  is the dress on display in the window? How much  will it cost me? How much  does it cost ?

HOW MANY ...? - (Quantity) How many cars are there in your garage? How many  is used when we want to know the QUANTITY of something. It is only used with plural countable nouns. HOW MANY + PLURAL NOUN How many  days are there in January? How many  people work in your company? How many  cousins do you have? How many  books did you buy? How many  countries are there in the world? How many  students are in the class right now? How many  chairs are there in this room? How many  pieces of chocolate would you like?

The words  some  and  any  are used when the speaker cannot specify or does not need/want to specify a number or an exact amount.
