I am producing a music video to the narrative song ‘I miss you, I’m sorry’ by Gracie Abrams This video will follow four different couples who have recently broken up and find themselves in the same place at the same time, but narrowly missing each other. The video includes my artist as a part of one of the couples, however the focus is not solely on her in order to focus on the narrative storyline. The different scenes are shot in a train station, school, pub and house – all generic places, allowing the audience to see themselves in the couples’ shoes, creating a personal connection especially to fans that might have experienced similar situations. My biggest inspiration for this music video was ‘ceilings’ by Lizzy McAlpine, which has a heavily narrative based video, but I looked at various others within the indie/indie pop genre by female artists in order to produce a fitting video. In planning this video, I have made a storyboard to loosely plan each scene and will stick to that when filming as much as possible. I will be using Adobe After Effects to edit my video.
The song has a slow start before building up during the second chorus and the bridge During the slow verses, my video will introduce the four different couples going about their days. When the song builds for the second chorus, the video will show their paths crossing – though the characters are unaware of this. The bridge/outro section of the video will represent the couples moving on in a way through various ways: deciding to not text each other, walking in the opposite directions, tearing down a poster of the other.
