INTRODUCTION VACCINATION COVID-19 PANDEMIC VACCINE LITERACY VACCINE ACCEPTABILITY RELEVANCE

THEORIES The researcher anchors his study with the following theories: Health Belief Model developed by Godfrey Hochbaum , Stephen Kegels, and Irwin Rosenstock. Theory of Planned Behavior developed by Martin Fishbein and Icek Azjen . Transtheoretical Model developed by Dr. James Prochaska and Dr. Carlo Diclemente .

LEGAL BASES The researcher has based his study with the following legal frameworks: SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being The Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines RA No. 11469 – Bayanihan to Heal as One Act RA No. 11494 – Bayanihan to Recover as One Act RA No. 11525 – COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act Department Memorandum No. 2021-0099 of the Department of Health s. 2021 Interim Plan – Philippine National Deployment and Vaccination Plan for COVID-19 Vaccines

RESEARCH FLOW

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM This study attempts to find answers to the following questions: What is the profile of the respondents in terms of: sex; age; educational attainment; and occupational status? What is the respondents’ degree of COVID-19 vaccine literacy? What is the respondents’ degree of COVID-19 vaccine acceptability? Is there a significant degree of difference of COVID-19 vaccine literacy and acceptability when respondents are grouped according to profile? Is there a significant degree of relationship between the respondents’ COVID-19 vaccine literacy and acceptability?

NULL HYPOTHESIS There is no significant degree of difference of COVID-19 vaccine literacy and acceptability when respondents are grouped according to profile. There is no significant degree of relationship between the respondents’ COVID-19 vaccine literacy and acceptability.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES DESIGN The cross-sectional explanatory design of the survey approach of nonexperimental research under the quantitative method will be utilized in this study.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES ENVIRONMENT The locale of this study is in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. This city, which is the capital of the province of Bohol. The city is composed of 15 barangays, namely: Bool, Booy , Cabawan , Cogon, Dampas , Dao, Manga, Mansasa , Poblacion I, Poblacion II, Poblacion III, San Isidro, Taloto , Tiptip and Ubujan .

RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES RESPONDENTS The Tagbilaran City residents will be the research respondents of this study. Multi-stage sampling will be utilized in this study and distribution of questionnaires to the sample district/barangays will be done through house-to-house visit while observing the IATF protocol such as wearing of mask, face shield, and constant hand hygiene. The sample size of 272 was computed from SurveyMonkey.com basing on the 2015 census population with 90% confidence level and 5 %margin of error. Included in the study are residents of Tagbilaran City between 18 to 70 years old. Excluded in the study are those individuals residing in Tagbilaran City for less than 1 year and those who are not anymore residing in the City since the pandemic.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES INSTRUMENTS The instrument that will be used to gather data in this study is a survey questionnaire composed of three parts. The first part will be researcher-made that asks for the profile of the participants such as age, sex, district/barangay, family role, educational qualification, and employment status. The second part of the questionnaire will be a standardized questionnaire for Vaccine Literacy (VL) from the Ishikawa test that had already been validated for content and construct. VL Questionnaire will be adopted from the study of Biasio , Bonaccorsi et al. (2020). Questions 1, 2, 3, and 4 assess the functional VL while Questions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 evaluate the interactive-critical VL. Functional VL questions deal with language understanding while the interactive-critical questions deal with cognitive efforts like problem-solving and decision-making.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES INSTRUMENTS The third part of the questionnaire will be adopted from Thaker (2020) which utilized the 14-item Vaccine Hesitancy Scale (VHS) validated by Luyten et al. (2019) with six questions added from the studies of Gidengil et al. (2019), Hoffman (2020), and Maisonneuve et al. (2018). In Thaker’s study, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses classified the 14 items into two factors of “confidence” and “risk perception” accounting. The two-factor structure consists of a “confidence” part with Items 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, and a “risk perception” part with Items 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14, which shows the best psychometric characteristics of the Vaccine Hesitancy Scale.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES DATA GATHERING PROCEDURES - Sending of Letters to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the Graduate School, and Municipal Mayor of Tagbilaran City, bohol . Courtesy call to the Barangay Captain House-to-house visit while observing IATF protocol. 1. Distribution of questionnaires 2. Orientation of respondents 3. Collection of data

RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS Finalization and submission of required documents before the conduct of research. Submission of needed documents for proposal and to the Research Ethics Committee to get the ethics clearance. Submission of Transmittal Letters to the city officials and barangay officials included in the sample. Emails will be sent to the authors of the tools utilized by the study for their permission. Research respondents will be explained of the consent form prior to orientation and signing while observing IATF protocols. Orientation on how to answer the questionnaire. Retrieval of questionnaires from the participants while observing IATF protocols.
