Bumble, Chiku, Binga & Gabbar

This is named after Admiral X who allegedly only had “One Eye, One Arm, One Leg” near
the end of his life. Other variants of it being Double X, Triple X and is considered unlucky.
International umpire Y, made it famous by a whole retinue of peculiar mannerisms - hops,
shuffles, jiggles and so on.
This same superstition was displayed by spectators and Umpire Ian Gould during the Test
between Australia and South Africa on November 11th, 2011, at 11:11, when South Africa
needed 111 runs to win.
22nd February, 1st november and January 11th have been suggested to celebrate “Y” day.

Saqlain Mushtaq, the inventor of “Doosra” bowled a special delivery named X in
the Indian Cricket League playing for the Lahore Badshahs.

The first person to face the X or “Jalebi” was Russel Arnold of Sri Lanka when he
was correctly given LBW by the umpire.

In All Stars T20, Sachin Tendulkar got out on this Delivery.

X is a cricketing term named after an Indian Cricketer who twice dismissed the Australian Bill
Brown this way.

This is rare and against the spirit of game - and usually a warning is given to the batsman
beforehand. Some of the famous instances are:

• Brian Luckhurst by Greg Chappell,
• Grant Flower by Dipak Patel,
• Peter Kirsten by Kapil Dev,
• Jos Buttler by Sachithra Senanayake
• Richard Ngarava by Keemo Paul (Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2016)

Mankading

Identify the phenomenon.
According to a story, it owes its existence to a section of tightly packed seats
behind the home plate at Fenway Park in Boston. These seats were so close
together that whenever a fan had to stand up to get a beer, it caused annoyance
to people nearby.
It is an example of metachronal rhythm (movements produced by the sequential
action). It often circulates three, four or even five times - or until the batsman hits
the ball (whichever comes first).
What phenomenon is being talked about here?

Billy Bowden did something in soccer style to let the players know of their
wrongdoings during the following incidents.
Incident 1 involving Shane Warne:
During the Tsunami welfare match between ICC World XI and Asia XI. Shane
Warne at the end of 49.5 overs of the first innings ran to the pavilion presuming
the overs quota was completed.
Incident 2 involving Glenn Mcgrath:
During the first ever T20 international between Aus and NZ, McGrath bowled
(rather rolled) the last ball of the innings to Kyle Mills as an Under-arm delivery.

In cricketing parlance, the word X is used to describe one of the stock deliveries of
a left-arm spin bowler.

It has its origins in a Test match played between the West Indies and England in
the year 1933. Elliss "Puss" Achong, was a left-arm orthodox spinner, playing for
the West Indies at the time.

Achong is said to have had Walter Robins stumped off by a surprise delivery. As
he walked back to the pavilion, Robins said to the umpire, "fancy being done by a
bloody X !", leading to the popularity of the term in England, and subsequently, in
the rest of the world.

X is the only batsman in 137 years of cricket history to hit a six off the very first ball
of a Test match. He did it against Bangladesh off debutant Sohag Gazi.
One of his team mate tweeted that X earlier scored 196(68) in a T20 trial match.
Adding more to the surprise, he got out only in the 15th over.
X scored 2 Triple Centuries in Test Matches (One against South Africa) and joined
the likes of Bradman, Lara.

X also scored one Double Century in ODIs.

He was a great strategist of the game and also a trailblazer in every sense.

Much before pinch-hitting became a norm in One Day cricket, he had promoted big-hitting
batsman Mark Greatbatch to open the batting in the 1992 World Cup with reasonable
success.
Another of his tactical master-class in the 1992 World Cup was to open the bowling with off-
spinner Deepak Patel, a practice which was unheard off during the early 1990s.
It was the result of his innovative captaincy that his team reached the semi-finals of the 1992
World Cup which they lost to eventual winners Pakistan.
He was also the highest run-getter in that World Cup and won the man of the series award
for his brilliant performance.

It was the third ODI between India and Zimbabwe in the year 2000.

Zaheer Khan, known primarily for his exploits with the ball, decided to showcase
his all-round abilities in that match, scoring 32 off 11 balls which included 4
consecutive sixes in the final over off the bowling of Henry Olonga.
This cameo knock propelled India’s score to 283 but India still lost the match,
losing out to Zimbabwe by the narrow margin of 1 wicket.

In cricket, ____ music is a term for a bowling strategy where bouncers are aimed
at the batsman's throat.

Rising rapidly off the pitch, the ball is difficult to play unless the batsman has quick
footwork. If fended rather than avoided, it may yield a ballooned return catch to the
bowler or to close-in fielders.

This is a difficult ball to bowl, since a few inches on either side would present the
batsman with a short ball that can be easily put away on either side of the pitch.
It is also the finishing move of Shawn Michaels who calls it “Sweet ____ Music”.

Soumya Sarkar of Bangladesh invented this shot to counter Bouncers.
While executing this shot, Sarkar moves his body behind the crease, bents himself
in the reverse pose, aligns his bat along the path of the ball and directs it towards
his desired direction.
This shot shares its name with an instrument which was said to be marketed by
Johannes Gutenberg in the 1430s but became popular during the WWI.
