Working Of A CT-Scan Machine:-
1.Thepatientliesdownonanarrowtable,whichisthemmovedontothegantryofthe
CTscanner.
2.ThegantryhousesanX-raytubeanddetectorsthatrotatearoundthepatientduring
thescan.AstheX-raytuberotates,itemitsaseriesofthebeamsofX-raysthroughthe
body.
3.ThedetectorsreceivetheX-raysaftertheypassthroughthebodyandconvertthem
intoelectricalsignal,whicharesenttoacomputerforprocessing.
4.Thecomputerprocessesthesignalsandreconstructsthedataintodetailedcross-
sectionalimagesofthebody,whichcanbeviewedonmonitor.
5.Theradiologictechnologistmonitorsthescanfromanoperatorconsoleandmaygive
thepatientinstructionoradjustthescanparametersasneeded.
6.Oncethescaniscomplete,thepatientsmovedoutofthegantryandtheimagesate
reviewedbyaradiologist,whointerpretstheresultandmakeadiagnosis.
7.Theentireprocessisusuallyquickandpainless,takingonlyafewminutestocomplete.

Scans:-
1.TheX-raysareaformofionizingradiation,which
meansthattheyhaveenoughenergytoremove
electronsfromatomandmoleculesinthebody.
2.AlthoughtheamountofradiationusedinaCTscansis
relativelyLow,thereissmallriskofradiationexposure,
particularlyforrepeatedscans.
3.Tominimizethisrisk,radiologictechnologistsand
radiologistsfollowestablishedsafetyguidelines,such
asusingthelowestpossibleradiationdoseandusing
otherimagingmethods,suchasMRIorultrasound,
whenpossible.
