IDENTIFICATION

Have black, green-brown or grey colored body Larvae of all species grow to about 40-50 mm long. Hairless Dark head Have stripes and marking on side of body.

DAMAGE

Damage occurs at night when caterpillars feed seedling and stems. newly planted garden vegetables will be cut off during the night. Different cutworm species will climb plants doing damage to foliage, buds and shoots . Late season cutworms will tunnel in fruit.

CONTROL

Avoid using harmful pesticides or practices that would inadvertently destroy beneficial insects, we can use first line of natural defense.   Ground beetle can be important predator for cutworm. Eco-Bran  will also kill caterpillars that feed on it . Its is a Bio pesticide.
