SIGN AND SYMPTOMS Common signs and symptoms of stroke include: Numbness or weakness of the face Change in mental status Trouble speaking or understanding speech Visual disturbances Homonymous hemianopia - loss of half of the visual field Loss of peripheral vision

SIGN AND SYMPTOMS Hemiparesis or hemiplegia - Weakness or paralysis of the face, arm, and leg on the same side  Ataxia - unsteady gait and inability to keep feet together Dysarthria - difficulty in forming words Dysphagia - difficulty in swallowing Paresthesia - numbness and tingling of extremities  Expressive aphasia - unable to form understandable words  Receptive aphasia - unable to comprehend the spoken word
