ABSTRACT 1. CO2 Collection: DAC employs specialized materials to trap CO2 directly from the air, isolating it from other gases. 2. Extraction Process: Once captured, CO2 undergoes processes to intensify its volume for storage or utilization, creating a more potent stream. 3. Obstacles and Opportunities: High initial expenses and energy demands pose challenges to widespread implementation. However, ongoing research focuses on refining DAC technology for increased efficiency and reduced costs. 4. Advancing the Technology: Collaborative efforts across various sectors aim to innovate and enhance DAC, making it more accessible and impactful in combatting climate change. 02-01-2024 | 3 Acharya Institute of Technology, Acharya Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Road, Soladevanahalli,Bengaluru 560107

BE THE SOLUTION FOR AIR POLLUTION AQI in Delhi ranges from 255 to 486 where as AQI in Bangalore is 164 in Bapuji Nagar. AQI is an index measured in a scale range of 0 to 500 where 101-150 is unhealthy for sensitive groups, 151-200 unhealthy, and 201-300 very unhealthy. It is important to have a quick and immediate solution to control the air pollution. 02-01-2024 | 4 Acharya Institute of Technology, Acharya Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Road, Soladevanahalli,Bengaluru 560107

Introduction This project has been divided into two stages where in 1st stage we are using Hepa filter to filter out dust , dirt and bacteria's from air . Then the filtered air enters the 2nd stage where the Direct Air Capture (DAC) is a technology used to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) directly from the ambient air. It's a process designed to mitigate climate change and reduce the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. DAC systems are often considered a form of carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technology. 02-01-2024 | 5 Acharya Institute of Technology, Acharya Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Road, Soladevanahalli,Bengaluru 560107

Principle of working 02-01-2024 | 6 Acharya Institute of Technology, Acharya Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Road, Soladevanahalli,Bengaluru 560107

MECHANISM Air Intake: DAC systems draw in large volumes of air from the atmosphere . CO2 Absorption: The captured air passes through a chemical sorbent or solvent that selectively captures CO2molecules. This process is often facilitated by chemical reactions that bind CO2 to the sorbent. Desorption and Capture of Pure CO2: After absorbing CO2, the sorbent undergoes a desorption process, releasing the captured CO2 . Regeneration : The sorbent can be regenerated and reused for multiple cycles of CO2 capture. 02-01-2024 | 7 Acharya Institute of Technology, Acharya Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Road, Soladevanahalli,Bengaluru 560107

Components of DAC 02-01-2024 | 8 Acharya Institute of Technology, Acharya Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Road, Soladevanahalli,Bengaluru 560107 Acrylic Sheet Solar Panel Carbon Filter Suction Fan Antimicrobial Filter HEPPA Filter Zeolite Air Quality Indicator Carbon Storage Tank Regulators Sensors(MQ 7)

Description HEPPA FILTER Nano Protect HEPA filter is made of high quality material & carbon filter to trap odor & VOCs It can capture up to 99.97%* of particles even as small as 0.3 microns - the size of most common airborne allergens, harmful particles, bacteria and viruses. SUCTION FAN The fan is used to suck air through the air purifier. The fan consists of a small electric motor with metal fan blades attached to the motor's power take-off. 02-01-2024 | 9 Acharya Institute of Technology, Acharya Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Road, Soladevanahalli,Bengaluru 560107

02-01-2024 | 10 Acharya Institute of Technology, Acharya Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Road, Soladevanahalli,Bengaluru 560107 MQ7 SENSOR The MQ-7 sensor is used primarily for detecting carbon monoxide (CO) gas in the surrounding environment. Stable, long life and low cost. Good sensitivity to Combustible gas in wide range. SOLAR PANEL The setup is operated by solar energy. Solar cells convert the energy of sunlight directly into electricity through the use of the photovoltaic effect.

02-01-2024 | 11 Acharya Institute of Technology, Acharya Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Road, Soladevanahalli,Bengaluru 560107 ZEOLITE BEADS Z eolite beads have the capability to adsorb carbon dioxide (CO2) molecules. Zeolites are porous materials with a unique crystalline structure, which have a cavities that can selectively capture and adsorb various molecules based on their size, shape, and polarity. STORAGE TANK Carbon storage tanks securely contain captured CO2, preventing its release into the atmosphere. They're crucial for safe, long-term storage, often in underground geological formations, reducing environmental impact.

Applications Industrial Zones : Near industries emitting high levels of CO2 to capture it directly from concentrated sources . Urban Centers : Integration into city infrastructure to reduce localized emissions and enhance air quality in densely populated areas . Agricultural Zones : Placing DAC facilities near agricultural areas to provide captured CO2 for enhancing plant growth and promoting sustainable farming practices . Remote Locations : In areas without access to the electrical grid, DAC can offer a reliable method for CO2 removal. 02-01-2024 | 12 Acharya Institute of Technology, Acharya Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Road, Soladevanahalli,Bengaluru 560107
