David Ausubel’s Theory of learning
The model has three phases: 1) presenting an advance organizer, 2) presenting the learning task or material, and 3) strengthening cognitive organization by testing how the material relates to existing ideas. Ausubel's Subsumption Theory suggests that meaningful learning takes place when new information is assimilated into an individual's existing cognitive structure via four processes: derivative subsumption, correlative subsumption, superordinate learning, and combinatorial learning.
