Session 4 GESI-
Responsive NbS –
Lessons from
SUNCASA
In this dialogue event with GESI partners, we’ll
showcase how GESI considerations are being integrated
within NbS activities across all three cities and examine
the intersectional factors shaping equitable
participation and benefit-sharing in NbS.
To discuss key insights about gender and social norms, attitudes, and behaviors, and how these support
NbS implementation, across all 3 cities
To examine how intersecting vulnerabilities affect participation and benefits from NbS, and explore
specific examples of how SUNCASA has attempted to address these vulnerabilities as part of its
implementation
To give a brief update on the next steps in ensuring the ongoing GESI-responsiveness of SUNCASA's NbS
for adaptation, highlighting the ongoing role of partners in advancing GESI integration
Learning Objectives
An immersive conversation between a group of peers. The tone is casual and conversational in an effort
to make the discussion more personal and approachable.
How it works:
Similar to a panel discussion but less formal. A moderator will guide guest speakers through a set of
curated questions, while audience members can respectfully join in, ask questions, and share
experiences, at any time.
Session Format: Fireside Chat
Coffee and
tea break
Session 5 Under the
Microscope – Co-
creating Solutions for
NbS Challenges
In this role play activity, space will be given to explore,
discuss and problem solve for any challenges to
SUNCASA planning or implementation over the past
year.
An opportunity to get advice from peers and
facilitators on a specific challenge that you are
facing.
The objective is to promote peer to peer support
while helping participants identify new approaches
to tackle real-world problems.
How it works:
During the session, a set of “patients” will describe
their challenge while a set “doctors” listen and
provide advice.
Session Format: Knowledge Clinic
Knowledge Clinic (continued)
Each clinic consists of three steps:
The “patient” has 5 minutes to provide a detailed description
of the problem or challenge they face. They should be as
specific as possible to get specific feedback in response.
The “doctors” have 5 minutes to ask follow-up questions that
are for clarification only.
There are then 15 minutes for doctors to provide feedback on
their recommendations for this problem.
