GRAPHIC ORGANIZER

GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS are visual thinking tools that make pictures of your thoughts. The pictures demonstrate relationships between facts, concepts, or ideas, and guide your thinking as you design the map or diagram. People who have learning disabilities are often visual learners and thinkers.

There are 8 types of graphic organizers T-Chart. Concept Map. Main Idea Web. Star Diagram. Venn Diagram. Sequence Chart. Hexagon Organizer. Problem-Solving Chart.

T-Chat are shaped like a “T,” used to separate information into two categories. A T chart can be used to compare and contrast two things, to list advantages and disadvantages, to separate facts from opinions

T-Chat

Concept Map is   another type of educational graphic organizer that students can use to diagram suggested relationships between concepts . By making a concept map, students visually think about concepts more easily than they can with simple lists or notes.

Concept Map

Main I dea W eb are visual and graphic displays that organize ideas and demonstrate relationships between different information and concepts. They are designed to improve learning outcomes for students, review information, and are especially helpful to students who struggle with arranging information.

Main Idea Web

Star Diagram is  used for organizing the characteristics of a single topic. A central space is used for displaying the topic, with each “point” of the star listing some fact, attribute, or trait about the topic.

Star Diagram

Venn Diagram is  a graphic organizer that compares and contrasts two (or more) ideas. Overlapping circles represent how ideas are similar (the inner circle) and different (the outer circles). It is used after reading a text(s) where two (or more) ideas are being compared and contrasted.

Venn Diagram

Sequence Chart is  a tool that helps graphically represent the order of steps in a process, a timeline of events, etc. It can also be used to plan lessons or to take down notes during a lesson.

Sequence Chart

Hexagon Organizer are facts , ideas, or concepts are put inside hexagons, with related information put in hexagons that are touching each other.

Hexagon Organizer

Problem-Solving Charts is a tool used in education to quickly identify and analyze a problem. It breaks down the problem into three main parts: description, causes, and solutions.
