Definition Of Respect
What is Respect What is respect? This question is one that many people want to have a good
definition of, and a good definition would be a feeling of admiration for somebody's achievements
and actions and there is more to it which I will be explaining in this paper. I think it is something
you can either give or receive, something powerful and important, and something that should be in
every community and in every square inch of the planet.
Respect is something that should be showing at home, to yourself, in public places, at school if
you're still in attendance, and work if you have a job. There will be many benefits if you are to do
this or already doing this the is because you will be a more likeable person and the boss might just

What Respect Is The Word Respect?
When talking about the word respect, numerous individuals have no clue what it implies. This word
changes its meaning depending on who is inquired. Several people, even ones who comprehend
what respect implies, still have no respect for anyone else. A two–way streak that everyone appears
to overlook is respect. The word respect has a one–sided meaning to it, as an consequence of all the
disrespect around the world. Respect has different opinions, gone through history, and help shape
famous quotes. These days, numerous individuals have different implications for the word respect,
however there is only one genuine meaning. The definition for the respect is as per the following, a
feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or
achievements. Apperception, esteem, consideration, dignity, recognition, and honor are just a
minority of the synonyms. So of course, criticism, dishonor, disrespect, neglect, disregard, and
ignorance are just a minority of the antonyms. Indeed, even across the world, there are different

Definition Essay On Respect
I believe that respect means a lot of different things for different people. For me personally, respect
means taking someone's feelings into consideration as if they were your own feelings, and being
mature enough to handle the feelings and thoughts of other people. When giving someone respect, it
should make them feel worthy and valued as well as making them feel like they belong.
The behavior one person shows toward another can present how much that person respects the other
and the other person should be able to feel the respect that you have for them. People act in many
ways that are considered respectful and in ways that are considered disrespectful. In my childhood, I
was taught to treat others the way you would would want to be treated,

The Importance Of Respect In Society Today
We use it every day. Your parents tell you about it all the time. Most don't know exactly what it
means. Respect. To have respect is to hold oneself worthy of your admiration or approval. Society
cannot function without respect because it is the oil that keeps the gears turning. Respect is actively
listening, obeying orders, and being mindful, whether it's to others, the environment, the law, or
yourself.
In today's society, respect is decreasing. In schools, in the workplace, at home, and in public with
racism, sexism, religious intolerance, and more. Racism and police brutality have increased since
cases like of Trayvon Martin and Freddie Gray. People of color have not received the respect they
deserve and respect for policemen is decreasing. Sexism has increased since third–wave feminists
surfaced and skewed people's image and respect for feminists. Religious intolerance increases as
terrorist attacks continue with people's misconceptions about Islam. An example of a group lacking
respect in society today is the youth. The youth isn't anywhere near as respectful to their parents,
teachers, or elders as they were before the nineteen–hundreds. But to make the youth more
respectful, one must respect the youth. Jenni Herd wrote in response to Times's "Moods and
meltdowns: what's inside the teenage brain?", "[We're] angry that we have to clean up your mess,
while you hold us in contempt, analyzing our responses as though we were another species? I would
like adults to treat us

What Is Respect?
What is respect? Respect can be defined in a million different ways, I asked my close friends and
family what is their definition of respect, some of them had no clue while some believed it was (
kidness) (friendship), this made me think to myself "what is respect?" so my curiosity brought me to
check my dictionary. In the dictionary it says 'to show regard or admiration of something'. ( Oxford
dictionary )
In my opinion this is partly correct and also partly incorrect. I don't believe it necessarily has to
show admiration in something to have respect, for example I would have respect for a stranger ive
just met on the street, I do not admire them just have respect for them. Respect to me is not judging
others and seeing everybody and everything for what they are. In my view I believe respect is a
universal characteristic. 8 billion people in this world all very unique with clearly distinguishable
characteristics but respect is a part of their characteristics in their own way. Christians respect the
Bible and Muslims respect the Quran. These are two different religions with two ... Show more

At the same time, the absence of respect can lead to conflict. What makes men like Bill Richardson
and John Kamm succeed in negotiations and dialogue where many other fail, especially in their
dealings with cultures other than our own? What makes them different from others? Both cite
respect to be their main secret. Recognize respect to be a basic human right, treat individuals and
states with dignity, and you will receive a more sustainable response. The relationships so
established will be based on mutual trust and respect, and hence is likely to last. In contrast, if you
browbeat your enemies (or both sides if you are the mediator) then even though the goal may be
attained, the relationship will be resentful, and backlash, more than stable peace is the more likely

Meaning Of Respect In Confucius
As time goes by, respect is being lost and forgotten. Even the definition of respect seems to be a bit
muddied. Many people are forgetting the one golden rule that still applies. The golden rule being
treat others the way you would want to be treated. People nowadays tend to turn respect towards
things that are worthy of praise and they are forgetting to keep the same respect to everything else.
No matter the color of someone's skin, the religion they believe in, and where they come from
everyone deserves and should get respect, in Confucius's teachings, as a basic human element and
many Asian countries, respect is a major characteristic and etiquette that people are learning and
quickly forgetting.
Subclaim I (body paragraph)
As far back as 500 BC, Confucius lived in a time of warfare among the states that made up China.
During these times there were rapid political changes in the society and people were forgetting and
no longer respecting that traditional standards of social behavior. "(...) many people no longer
respected the traditional standards of social behavior. Confucius feared that this threat to orderly
social relationships would lead to the destruction of civilization." With the concern that people were
losing all means of decency and proper social behavior, Confucius thought that it could all be
restored if the proper morals and self–cultivation were emphasized. "Junzi possessed many virtues.

Army Respect Research Paper
Respect is important in the army Respect can either bring a unit moral up or disrespect can bring the
moral of the unit down. Respect is a word that holds a lot of weight with people. I have looked up
respect but I have taken respect from the army value and broke it down into little pieces. Treat
people as they should be treated. This part of respect is the backbone to me and is a very important
part in the army. By treating people as they should be treated is what keeps us as soldiers and senior
leader's level. Yes, we do have to understand that there is a rank structure but we also need to know
that we are people to. Treating people with respect also helps us know that we as people of America,
all have come from different parts of life.

Teenagers Have Respect
A lot of teenagers these days don't respect each other because they are jealous of each other. I think
that I am lucky and have no reason to be jealous so I try to respect everyone the way they are.
Although the people I would like to talk about is how much respect I have for my mom and dad. I
think that having respect for your parents is one of the most important things especially as a
teenager. If you don't have respect for your parents then why should they have respect for you when
you grow up. My mom owns ten hair salons and deals with many different problems every day and I
don't really know how she does it. So I have uttermost respect for her everyday. Sometimes my
mom talks to me about stuff I don't exactly agree with her, but I still want to show respect while
making my argument. I do that by kindly telling her my opinion without getting mad. Then I wait to
see what she says, back and normally her opinion makes more sense, so I just listen to what she has
to say. I never get mad or yell at her, but I repeat her opinion just as much as I respect mine. Not
only do I show respect to my mom but she shows respect to me and to the things that I love to do. A
lot of people don't ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was trying to be very respectful of her wishes and to this day we don't talk about and I don't judge
her for it. I still think of her as the sweet, kind girl I became friends with in the first place. I might
think about the situation over and over in my head but I never disrespect her for it. I think that is one
of the most respectful things you can do for a friend especially with something like a secret. That
was one of cases that I think I showed the most respect to someone. Respect us a big concept that is
hard to understand at first but when you do it is not that hard to respect someone for who they

Respect Definition Essay
Respect is defined "as a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their
abilities, qualities, or achievements." A little more common interpretation of this word is; something
that is earned through hard work, honesty, and fairness. Respect is the basis for a person's life and
almost everything they do revolves around it. Respect is important in every aspect of a person's
everyday life. Respect is something that a person must work for, it can not be just given to anybody.
Respect is also something that can be easily lost if not taken seriously. All it takes to lose the respect
of someone is to simply bad mouth them or do anything to disappoint or hurt them in any way.
Respect is very important in many aspects of the everyday life. Whether it's in a relationship, or in
the workplace, or even when a person is around family, respect is needed in order to make the most
out of every experience. Respect has a place in many pieces of a person's life, in a way it defines the
events in which the individual partakes in; their job, their relationship, and the gathering with their
families. Respect is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Respect is earned through hard work and honesty. Another important part to gaining the respect of
another individual is to respect them as well. This is an important step to earning the respect from
another person, and it is often neglected because most people think that they should be respected
before they should respect another individual. While most people would like to think that this is true
it is the complete opposite of what should be done. This alone can make respect hard to obtain
especially in the workplace and in many relationships. Respect seems hard to give up due to this
idea, but in most cases whenever a person begins to show respect to another person, that person will
start to do the same. The effect is more of a cause and effect type

The Importance Of Respect
What is respect? Is the way people should be treated, how you would want to be treated, and should
it come naturally or should it be taught? Respect is what are world is built on, I feel that the phrases
like "reap what you sow" explain what respect works like. For example to when I am rude to
someone they tend to be rude back, the same works with respect. When being disrespectful to
someone you most likely will disrespect you right back. Not everyone follows these thoughts of
respect. Actions like these can lead to dangerous places, people begin to break boundaries that were
once built on respect. In other cases respect is earned, and not given. What I mean by this is that,
sometimes people must gain the respect of others. This can be earned in many ways, like being
respectful of others, being the best you can be, and doing kind things for others. This respect can
cause people to look up and follow in example of someone, and eventually making you an example
for others to follow and look up to, on so on and so forth. Respect can also be lost very easily, doing
things that can discourage people who look up to you as an example. Losing this respect could make
you untrustworthy and cause people to become unfaithful in you. This could also make you a bad
example, people respecting you for the wrong reasons. Wrong interpretations of of people who
respect your bad examples can cause people to do things they think is good thing to do. I do my best
to respect others, even

Why Respect Is Important
What Is Respect And Why Is It Importantn?
Respect takes place everywhere we go, the movie theater, school, home, and even restaurants.
Respect is an important aspect of our everyday lives. The definition of respect is having a manner of
admiration, and or politeness towards the person that you have respect for. Respect is something that
holds our entire society together and is visible in many unique ways. Respect holds our society
together because no one could go anywhere or do anything because of all of the chaos spreading
across their town or city. Therefore, there would be vandalism, no laws, and no filter on what
anyone could do. Our nation would fall apart without respect.

For example, in school where more fortunate kids have expensive clothes etc, may not respect and
think they are better than a student that doesn't have all of those nice things that the other student
has. I have witnessed this myself, where one very popular/very wealthy student looks down upon
and doesn't respect another student with not all of the latest "trendy" clothes that everyone else has.
The very same situation can also happen outside of school very well as inside. For instance, say an
average minimum wage citizen passes a less wealthy man. He might see him and try to avoid him
maybe because he looks down on him and believes he is "higher ranking" in society. Again, I have
also witnessed this countless times. Unfortunately, this happens quite a bit everywhere, may it be
school, public, work, etc. This can really affect people's social life and or self esteem. My opinion
on this matter is that every public area should reinforce the idea of respect, and they should also do
what they can to provide for less fortunate people and try to put more effort into stopping the respect
and bullying

Persuasive Essay On Respect
As children we are taught to always show respect to those around us. We are taught to never say no
to an adult, to listen and to use manners to everyone around us. But as we grow older we develop a
sense of rebelliousness, and an urge to question every single moral and value we have learned.
So the burning question arises: Should respect be given to everyone no matter what, or is it
something that needs to be earned? I believe that respect is a given. Like a natural right, it is born
with it, and it is your choice whether you can gain more or lose it. People around the world have
been fighting all around the world for equality. Isn't that the same as respect? We have been fighting
for respect this whole time, so why should we suddenly discriminate every organism on this planet.
Everyone has a side of insecurity and if we keep making people feel ashamed of that, there would be
no respect. Respect is what separates me from you, him from her. But shouldn't everyone get respect
no matter the case? From CEOs to retail workers?
According to The Positivity Solution, an organization dedicated to spread positivity, dignity, and
kindness, "Rudeness is often a by–product of a lack of respect. Not to sound like Captain Obvious
here, but most people don't choose to be rude and disrespectful to people who they respect, do
they?". What they are trying to convey is that people often don't give everyone the respect they
deserve. When we do not give people respect, we lose respect for ourselves and become rude in
other people's eyes. As we learn to realize that everyone deserves respect, we can see that even the
most small things can earn our attention. If you are consciously deciding to give people respect or
not, that is a mistake. Why do people need your acceptance to be treated equally? They do not. And
if you are making a choice based on shallow judgment, you are destroying the love and kindness
that others have shown to you. To be critical like that is unacceptable and wrong universally.
"A person's a person, no matter how small" said Dr. Suess, an award winning children's books
writer. Everyone wants to be accepted, some people at all costs. But would we like to see these
people struggle to work there way up and

Model Respect
Respect is one of the most important social skills that a person can have therefore it is educators and
parents to model to the young children what is respect. Before we do anything to the child we
should acknowledge them what we are about to do to them for example before moving the child
from the floor to the crib, caregivers should tell them what we are about to do to. In order to model
respect to a child, we must respect infants and toddlers as worthy people
An example of a respect interaction that I encountered was sitting outside of James Hall, in
Brooklyn College. There was a mom and a boy toddler (around two years old). The mom was
holding the boy's hand and was walking into the building. The mom was also giving the boy pieces

Definition Essay-Lack Of Respect
Respect is ingrained into our society, whether it be a whole community of respectful people to the
lone actions of a few. It is, however, still present and necessary for the society to function. It shows
where there is a lack of respect, especially in dysfunctional families. Respect to me is knowing your
boundaries and just simply having good manners. For example, addressing certain people. If they
are elders, it is disrespectful to say, "Hey you..." Basic respect is just addressing people politely.
Other boundaries include not overstepping someone's personal space and not messing with things
that are not yours. It is knowing your place in a given situation. Furthermore, growing up, respect

1960's Respect
Respect is a word that is commonly associated with words like dignity, recognition, and
consideration. The 1960's was a generation seeking these qualities throughout both exceptional and
dreadful events, that occurred in this time period that was becoming a culture of respect. Whether
society was trying to earn respect for their rights that they honestly deserve it was a time of standing
up and fighting for what you regard as important. Similarly to the youth of the 1920's, adolescents of
the 60's fought against the conservative cultures of the older generation. They provoked change by
starting movements such as the Kent State protests, to reach out to Americans so that their opinions
would be more understood. While it was an era of peace, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The rights of African Americans have been violated and abused ever since slavery was abolished in
1863. This operation for equal rights was a battle, fought by two black activist groups. One group
was nonviolent and wanted peace, the other was the opposite, very willing to become violent to
succeed in the battle for equality. The group that demanded change by threatening violent activity
was lead by Malcolm X. He believed that if they weren't given the equality that they demanded, that
they should just take it. "Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice or
anything. If you're a man, you take it", he believed that violence and force was the most effective
way of getting what they wanted. As history has shown us though the nonviolent protests, lead by
Martin Luther King was more effective and made an impact on the outcome of the civil rights
movement. He was inspired by some of the greatest nonviolent advocates of history, for instance
Mahatma Gandhi. King wanted to help African Americans reach equality, by helping the less
fortunate and the victims of injustice. He did this by peaceful protests, like the march on
Washington, one of the largest political rallies ever seen. King marched for jobs and freedoms of
African Americans, on August 28, 1963. At Washington King delivered his famous " I have a dream

Respect In Different Examples
Respect to me is very important. It shows that you have manners when you're respectful. Being
respectful to other people is the most important form of respect. You need to respect the way people
live and the things they believe in. This is very important to respect other people and being all
around nice to them. Respect is very important because other people will judge you by how much
respect you show them. In my opinion, respect is the best way to show someone what kind of person
you are. Respect is having manners and helping others. Being respectful to people also means to
respect their religion, culture, skin color, and their all around way of living life. When you respect
people it makes them happy, and you could get the same kind of respect in return ... Show more

For example, if they take their shoes off in their house and you don't, then take off your shoes when
you go in their house. This could also be much bigger. For example, going to another country. If you

for you. Doing things their way is very respectful and if you don't it could offend them.
Respect can be in different forms too. It can be opening the door for someone behind you, It can be
letting someone go in front of you in the grocery store line. There are so many small respectful
things that you can do. Even respecting people and things in small ways shows what kind of person
you are. Sometimes just doing something small can be better and more helpful than doing something
big.
Respect is important in our life because without it the world would be very chaotic. There would
just be craziness and no manners. I can't even imagine a world with no respect. Everyone should
show respect because if everyone gave everyone else at least a little bit of respect then the world
would be a way better

Definition Essay On Respect
What is the definition of respect? Respect is one of the most important qualities in your relationship
with anyone. When you look it up in the dictionary, respect is defined as a feeling of deep
admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements. To most
people, however, the definition of respect doesn't have the same meaning for everyone. To other's
the term respect simply just is polite and having manners, when in reality there's so much more
meaning into it. There are three different types of respect and they are self–respect, respect towards
others, and respect for others. Self–respect is where it all begins. It is said that respecting yourself is
defining your own worth and values as a human being. It's about having a sense of pride and
confidence in oneself; a feeling that one is behaving with honor and dignity. Otherwise stated as
having self–worth, self–regard, and self–confidence. It is a basic sense of being a good and decent
person, especially for their psychological well–being. How you carry yourself is very important

When demonstrating respect for others, you give value to their being and ideals. It includes taking

One of the best ways of showing respect for someone is an example of this quote by Byant H.

Respect Many people have different ideas about what respect means. I think it means having respect
for others, property, and respect for yourself. Most people want respect even if it is just a little. The
American Heritage Dictionary states that respect is 1. A feeling of appreciative, often deferential
regard, esteem. 2. The state of being regarded with honor or esteem. 3. Willingness to show
consideration or appreciation. People demand different amounts of respect, though not everyone is
willing to give the amount needed. Maybe this is because not every one knows what respect means.

This respect should be shown on every ones property including friend's, teachers, and even

high and respecting your own ideas. You can share your ideas even if you might not thing they are
right. But it can lead to more important things like peer pressure, and not giving into it. It is about
not letting it affect you in any way or sort. You can not have respect for others if you can not respect
yourself. There are many little things you can do to show respect. For example you can clean your
room and set the dishes. You can raise your hand when some one else is talking when you have an
opinion. Don't be afraid to share your opinions and ideas. They can be a good example for someone.
Be a person that another person would want to look up to. You can not be this person when you have
a lack of respect. You may not notice it, but respect plays a role in our daily lives. Respect follows
you wherever you go. Whether it is in school, your home, or in a restaurant. You may not notice it
that other people give you respect, but you do notice when they don't. Even for the simplest reasons.
If you are not respectful than you will not be respected. You can't DEMAND respect, nor make
people give respect out of fear. The scare will not work. You have to get respect by earning it.

Respect can be defined as an action or a feeling that is shown to others, oneself or something. Some
may that you can get a feeling out of any virtue, for example anger or disrespect, but respect is
usually connected between two individuals; an action of showing how much love, pride and honor
you have for them and having your words and actions speak for you indicating that respect is being
shown. There is a chain reaction when it comes to expressing respect, you must give respect to gain
respect and it can go the other way around also, where in order to receive respect you must give
respect. When it comes to the virtue respect it is a give and take type of situation. As Fyodor
Dostoyevsky, Russian novelist and short–story writer, once said, " If you want to be respected by
others, the great thing is to respect yourself. Only by self–respect you will compel others to respect
you." Having self–respect has a lot to do with one's self–esteem, knowing their own worth and
confidence plays an important role. Having an open mind to being wrong is a gateway to self–
respect, it shows acknowledgment and acceptance of the truth or existence of a fact or opinion. It
shows that a person knows their rights from wrongs and having self–respect opens new doors of
opportunities, this means that a person is willing to understand their mistakes and learn from them;
learn from those mistakes, wrongs and anything that can be found to not being worthy of putting it
out there in the world and public

Respect Essay
Respect is showing high regard for yourself, others, and property. Respect has a lot to do with your
relationship with another person. If you show them great respect and hold them up in high regard,
they will do the same for you. In order to be respectful, you first must respect one self. Accept
yourself for who you are, no matter what your looks may be or how different you are from other
people. Do not try to be someone else to fit in, just be yourself. Another part of being respectful is to
show others respect. Give your peers, adults, etc. the respect that is due to them. Respect their
opinions and choices, even if you don't agree with them. Don't say negative things about them
behind their backs no matter if you like them or not. God

Respect in the Military
Respect
Respect, especially in the Army is a very important value to live by. It is much more than just
talking kindly and listening to someone. It is the process of taking into consideration someone's
emotions, feelings and needs. You must also focus on their ideas, thoughts, and preferences. It is
showing someone that you value their time; that you care what they have to say. Showing someone
respect allows that person to know and acknowledge that you are tracking them and that you
comprehend and believe in what they are saying, It is important to allow someone to feel your
respect for them. It will ease the conversation and create trust. Behavior and attitude will allow the

Do what they ask and do it well. Treat them kindly and use proper language. You still must take into
consideration the person's emotions, needs, preferences, thoughts, and ideas. Do what they say and
do it quickly. Do not ask questions, do not smart off, and do not do anything to jeopardize your own
self in regards to the situation. It is important to complete the job task and complete it well the first
time. Show the person you respect them. Get it done, and get it down the right way, the first time.
This is how you show respect. This is how you earn respect. Respect is very important both in the
military and in the civilian world. In most cases, people can easily tell when someone respects them
or not. Once they feel that they are being respected, they can instill more trust into a person, respect
them back, and take what the person says to heart. They can put faith into that person. Once we earn
someone's respect, it is much easier to gain his or her cooperation. It is much easier to have them
support us and take our sides. We don't have to put as much effort in to getting them to listen to an
order or doing what they are told. Respect must be EARNED. You must provide someone with your
respect before they show you the same respect. This is what I mean by earning it. I do not believe
that respect can be demanded or forced. Demanding someone's respect will most likely lead to some
type of conflict. Respect

The Importance Of Respect In Society
According to Dictionary.com, respect is defined as esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence
of a person, a personal quality or ability. Respect typically means that you admire something or
someone and their qualities. Respect is something that has been around for centuries. We are taught
to respect our elders. Taught to respect ourselves. Taught to respect each other. One thing that all
functioning societies have in common is respect. Treating others and ourselves with respect creates a
nicer, happier world to live in. Without respect, the society we live in would be fall apart due to the
dark, unfriendly, and oblivious nature of humans.
Living in a dark society creates unhappiness and misery. As teens become less and less involved in
others lives, people are having to actually stop and think about being respectful. Unlike now, when
our parents were growing up respect was seen among almost everyone. Present day teenagers take
many things for advantage. For example, the courtesies of simple things like holding the door open
or saying please and thank you are no longer common actions that you see in today's world. As of
2017, gesture as simple as holding the door open for someone is thought of as going out of your way
to be respectful and kind. Holding the door open for someone was once considered something that
you did without thinking, but now it is something that many adults would be surprised. Although life
goes on around the people who choose to act selfish and

The Importance Of Respect
Respect can be displayed in numerous ways which may be verbal or none verbal dependent upon the
individual. My aim is to demonstrate a clear outline of 'respect' touching upon subjects such as,
human rights, and values. Respect can be as straightforward as manors such as 'please' and 'thank
you', although many may not always display this. Respect is dignity for every individual, mutual
acknowledgment from one individual to another portraying thoughtfulness and equality. (Nhina le,
2016). Respect has changed outstandingly over the years which effects the way we live today.
Morally It is of significance to include others without preconceptions or exceptions no matter of
differences such as ethnicity or beliefs. (Joyce Catlett and Robert w firestone 2009) respect and
human rights interlink, as in 1998 the humans right act came into power which is built up of 30
articles e.g. 'right to life' which states that "nobody including the government can try to end your
life" (ref article) these rights are about respect and belong to everyone.
VALUEs
Values are personal attributes of importance which we are passionate about, gained through life and
experiences. Values certainly influence the opinions we have and the choices we make, as these are
personal thoughts and felling of what we care about. (Hayden, 2006)
Values affect the way we choose to live our life furthermore the way we act towards others and their
life.(REF) As we develop as individuals many factors such as age, wisdom and life experiences are
likely to have an impacted value's now held in comparison to ones held in younger life, as growth,
knowledge and life experience act towards shaping us as individuals and the way we may view
things. Values are not factual nevertheless there are no right or wrong values as these are personal to
each and every individual. (x2ref)
changes were made, which has a huge influence throughout the world.
RESPECT– many may say respect should be earned, but in certain instances, this is not always
possible, for ex; when
holding the door for someone who is walking behind you is effortless human respect, that is morally
expected to be given and reciprocated. showing respect for someone does not necessarily mean you

Summer In A Day Respect
Respect is important, right? Treating others with the same respect...it sounds accurate. Even though
we all have unique differences, everyone should be treated in the same way. In the story, "All
Summer in a Day," written by Ray Bradbury, and the piece of art titled "Pointing Fingers," the
theme of "be the kind of person that you would want to meet," is presented. In our society, despite
our differences, everyone should be treated with the same appreciation. Without this, our world
would be dreadful.
In the story, "All Summer in a Day," the theme of "be the kind of person you would want to meet,"
can be shown through dialogue, actions, and thoughts from each character. The first way the theme is

The quote, "be the kind of person that you would want to meet," can be easily viewed here because
of the actions that the other kids took towards Margot. The second way that the story supports the
theme of "be the kind of person that you would want to meet" was as William and the others were
intimidating Margot. The author wrote, "Get away!" The boy gave her another push. "What're you
waiting for?" Then, for the first time, she turned and looked at him. And what she was waiting for
was in her eyes. Well, don't wait around here!" cried the boy savagely: "You won't see nothing!" The
theme is well written here as the other children were mean to Margot. Treating others with the same
respect is basically what the theme of this is, however it was not addressed here. The students were
disrespectful towards Margot which can indicate the theme. Being the kind of person that you would
want to meet, does not include being a bully and impolite, as William's actions demonstrated. The
last example from the text that determines the theme is, "They surged about her, caught her up and
bore her, protesting, and then pleading, and then crying, back into a tunnel, a room, a

A Reflection Without Respect
Society simply cannot function without respect. Respect is defined as the admiration or appreciation
of someone. If no one had respect for one another, there would be chaos. There would be no
appreciation of other people. This would cause an outrage among the society because people would
have no manners and think they can get away with saying or doing whatever they want to someone
else. Then, when someone gets their feelings hurt, they would fight back, and this cycle would
continue. This could cause national debacles because no one would feel like an important part of
society. For example, if teachers were not respected by students and were yelled at everyday, would
they want to continue working under these conditions? This can also go all the way up into the
government. The president not respecting his country would cause citizens to feel hatred against the
leader and could cause outbursts. Not having respect could be as simple as shoving into someone
and not saying sorry, or all the way up to violent protests. This means that a lack of respect could
cause a boatload of problems in the world.
A society without respect would be full of ignorance and selfishness. People would start to believe
that showing respect for another person is a sign of weakness, when in reality it shows strong
values. A self–actualized person would realize that being respectful is a necessary trait to have. A big
part of respect that seems to get lost is self respect. This is almost the most

Respect And Disrespect In Society
What is the definition of respect? Respect is defined as the quality or state of being esteemed
according to the Merriam–Webster Dictionary. Society, thus far, has been based off of respect, but in
a world where respect has seemed to have begun to start disappearing; what exactly could happen to
society itself? Society can handle some disrespect but if disrespect begins to take control, disrespect
could very well become the new norm and lead to dangerous consequences down the road.
Respect has been around since the dawn of the human race. Leaders have been granted respect from
making a tough decision in hard times to authoritative positions. Respect is not a trait that has the
capability to be gained overnight. Respect is a trait that can be wiped away from just one mistake an
individual makes. Leaders have a huge impact on society. For example, current President Donald
Trump, has received huge amounts of disrespect from decisions he has made while in office or
remarks he made on the campaign trail. This form of disrespect has huge consequences on society.
Society is not functioning in a healthy way due to examples like this. This is not about whether an
individual likes the President or not this is about showing respect. When the youth see this form of
disrespect, it lays the grounds for how the youth will teach their children. Could society really
function with this continuing growth of disrespect? I do not believe society can survive if there is no

Respect, being the third Army Value, is a central pillar to the beliefs and principles upheld by the
United States Army. These beliefs and principles are representative of this organization and are
integral to the behaviors between superior and subordinate, team member to team member, or officer
to Noncommissioned Officer, and are central to customs and courtesies that we must all adhere to.
Respect and courtesies that travel both up and down the chain are not only critical, but highly
revered and regarded by all. Respect is expected from the lower ranks upward, even if the person
demanding the respect is unworthy of that respect. Something I personally have heard that I hold
close to my heart is that "You don't have to respect the person, but you must respect the rank."

Structure provides order and the necessary balance within an organization or ensure duties and

reflective also upon one's own respect and discipline for themselves and others. For example,
saluting an officer is a custom and courtesy that hinges on respect. If you do not care about the
military, and are rude or disrespectful, and just walk by an officer without rendering a salute, you
will most likely get a couple dirty looks and a immediate corrective training from said officer. This
same principle applies to a greeting of the day to a senior Noncommissioned Officer. A proper "good
morning" to the First Sergeant is fairly respectful. These examples further solidify the idea that
without the basic respect for authority, the military would lack structure, rank, and authority. This
lack of respect would and can negatively unit

What is Respect? Is it something we earn or to give? According to Dictionary reference.com, respect
is "esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person; a personal quality or ability or

The Importance Of Respect In Society
Respect is instilled into children from the time they are born. It is the number one rule that they have
been taught over and over again. At this moment in time, it can be argued that there are a few issues
in society. Of these issues, almost all of them could be fixed with respect. That is the reason why
respect is taught to young children, because it is so vital in order to function as a society. If there
was no respect in society, society would crumble, and everything would cause a ripple effect. While
there is an abundance of respectful people in society, the few that are not cause major problems. For
example, some people are not respectful to others just because of their skin color or religion. They
tend to treat them horribly because of it and judge them with unfair stereotypes purely based on the
pigment in their skin or the symbol/person that they choose to worship. All of this hate leads to a
divide between people and splits up society. Eventually all of this usually will lead to protests
peaceful and violent. An example of this is the Charlottesville protest. Here, people that hated others
because of race and religion gathered together to march and shout slurs. All of this hate and lack of
respect for others led to a woman, who was against the protest, getting run over by a man who was
involved in the protest. This is just one example of how a small group of people who lack respect
can cause drastic effects. Not all of the effects would be

Theme Of Respect In The Oddyseyy
As Confucious once said "Without feelings of respect, what is there to distinguish men from
beasts?" Respect is a powerful word, and a powerful manner of showing how much you care about
someone's beliefs, and how much you would care to spectate things in their perspective. Respect can
be seen as a dominant theme in the Oddyseyy, not only because it is repeated often, but also because
it is repeated effectively. Main focuses of respect are for the gods, but also many god–like mortals
with great charisma have the chance of getting such respect. The main compositions of respect we
see in the book emerge when the characters show fondness to the gods out of their own love, when
they beseech the gods for mercy, and when they show their regards for the mighty and the fit.
Firstly, it is important to show love to someone you respect. You see, respect and love are mutual;
without one, you may not have the other. But showing love to a superior entity is different, not only
because you might not encounter them personally, but also because you can't love someone you
don't know, and therefore can cause a weak chain of repect. In the Odyssey, gods are respected
because they sprout fear in the hearts of men, not because they are loved or adored; It's just a formal
way of respect which we can apply to our lives, because we may not always love our nagging boss,
or our demanding teachers. The book shows ridiculous respect for the gods (at most circumstances),
not because of love, but

The Importance Of Respect Essay
Respect
The definition of respect is: a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their
abilities, qualities, or achievements. What we respect is a clue to what we want in life. Respect is
really about what we admire in the world and in people. Respect is understanding and
acknowledging the rights of someone else to have their beliefs. Respect is something everyone
wants, not many have, and few want to give.
A person should not only respect themselves, but also other people. Also, to show respect, people
should listen to what others have to say. Demonstration of respect should not be expressed only
towards people you like, but to everyone that deserves it. Respecting others is very important if you
want to be respected. However, the way to earn respect is to be respectful. Make it an attitude, not a
thing given to a person after they have proven themselves. To me, respect is how someone else treats
me as a person. I've always firmly believed that respect is earned, not given. However, it means a lot
of different things for different people. For example, in sports and various competitions sportsmen
should treat their rivals with respect, because everybody is strong enough to win the competition.
For some, they say that respect is a two way street. For others, you treat others how you want to be
treated, even if you can not stand that person. Respect is a noble behavior, but today it can be met

respecting property means not damaging or taking something that is not yours. Respecting property

Baron von Steuben noted that a US officer.s first objective should be to treat his men .with every

oneof its seven values. In 1998 respect language gave the Army a powerful way to organize ongoing
discussions about discrimination and harassment.2 The previous year.s headlines had been filled

Why Should You Respect Your Respect
Introduction: Respect. What does it mean and who deserves your respect? Respect is generally
considered a positive feeling or an action shown towards someone or something considered
important. It is a sense of admiration for good or valuable qualities. It is also the process of honoring
someone by exhibiting consideration for their needs or feelings.
Some people think that showing respect is somehow degrading. They feel that it is the "weak
peoples" duty show respect to the mighty or powerful ones in our society. I think that this is a
complete misunderstanding. It is not a weakness to see the value in others. It shows immense
strength and it shows that you is secure enough on your own, to be able to look out into the world to
see the value in what's out there.

Why Respect Is Important
Respect has been valued from the beginning of time. Being respectful is what children and teens
work on, and what we notice in adults. No one likes the bully in school or the crotchety old man. It
is important to respect adults and children, because it projects a positive self image, it builds
relationships, and it can get you farther in life. Projecting a self image is very important in today's
world. When you are meeting someone for the first time you need to be respectful. People will see
immediately that you are a good person, if you make a good first impression, or you are always
doing what is right. Projecting a good self image is important even when nobody is around to see it.

One thing I have heard a lot, is relationships are a two way street. You can't treat a person with
disrespect and expect them to keep being nice to you. If you want to maintain a good relationship
with that person you need to treat them with respect. When you treat them with respect they feel
good about being friends with you and doing things together. They also feel there is a good balance
in the relationship and one person is not just taking and taking while the other is giving. However
when you take people for granted and don't treat them with respect, they will realize that you are not
a good person and they will not welcome your friendship. Being respectful can also get you a bit
farther in life. When you are respectful to elders you stand out to them as a good kid. For example, if
you are in an interview and you are more respectful and polite then the other candidates, you are
much more likely to get the job. When you are respectful to important people they would much
rather choose you for a job than someone who is disrespectful. Whatever the case may be, if you are
