He was a weak ruler, and his reign was marked by internal strife and rebellion. Invasion by Timur (1398–1399) : In 1398, the Mongol conqueror Timur (Tamerlane) invaded India and sacked Delhi in 1399. This invasion devastated the city, leading to a collapse of the central authority of the Tughlaq dynasty.
