Activity 1 "Think what's on the box"
Mechanics
The teacher will group you into 3, and each group will get 1/4 sheet of paper with group number to write the answers. The group has the highest score will have a plus 5 points in our upcoming quiz.
Directions
Observed the pictures pasted in the box and identify if its a Line , Point or a Plane . Each picture will only have given 5 seconds to answer.
Answers: Point Plane Point Plane Line Line
UNDEFINED TERMS 15 Undefined terms are the fundamental building blocks that cannot be defined using other geometric terms. They are accepted as understood without formal definitions. The three primary undefined terms in geometry are: Point, Lines, and Plane.
16 POINT
17 Term Figure Description Notation Point • A ⁃ A point suggests an exact location in space. ⁃ It has no dimension. ⁃ We use a capital letter to name a point. point A
LINE 18
19 Line J D • • m ⁃ A line is a set of points arranged in a row. ⁃ It is extended endlessly in both directions. ⁃ It is a one-dimensional figure. ⁃ Two points determine a line. That is, two distinct points are contained by exactly one line. ⁃ We use a lowercase letter or any two points on the line to name the line. line m or JD
20 Note: T he points that lie on the same lines are called collinear points.
21 PLANE
22 Plane ⁃ A plane is a set of points in an endless flat surface. ⁃ The following determine a plane: (a) three non-collinear points; (b) two intersecting lines; plane A, plane XYZ or XYZ • Z • • Z • Y A • X
23 • Z • (c) two parallel lines; or (d) a line and a point not on the line. ⁃ We use an uppercase letter, script letter, such as A, or three points on the plane to name the plane.
Exercise 1 “MYSTERY BOX”
MECHANICS 1. The teacher will show a picture from the Mystery Box. 2. Look at the picture carefully and discuss with your group. 3. Decide whether the picture represents a POINT, LINE, or PLANE. 4. Once your group agrees on an answer, raise your group’s stick immediately.
MECHANICS 5. The first group to raise their stick and give the correct answer will receive a "recitation stab". 6. The recitation stabs you earn will count as "plus points for graded recitation at the end of the quarter". Remember to work together as a team and participate actively !
Exercise 2 “GUESS AND LEARN”
MECHANICS 1. I will ask a question based on the figure 2. Discuss the answer with your group. 3. Once your group is ready, "act out your emoji" andd "raise your emoji card" at the same time so I can see and hear which group goes first. 4. The first group to act out their emoji, raise their card, and give the correct answer will get a "recitation stab".
Direction: Identify the points, lines and planes based on the questions.
Activity 2 “MYSTERY IN GEOMETRY LAND”
Instructions 31 Presentation title 20XX 2 . Answer this question How can you determine the connection of a point, line and plane?. 1. L ook around your room. Identify and list 5 objects that would model each undefined term. Then look for a design ( furniture, gadgets, personal belongings, etc.) draw it and identify the parts that models each of the undefined terms through labeling.
Instructions 32 Presentation title 20XX 5. You have 5 minutes to finish this task .
Points, lines and planes are very important in our lives. We must integrate the value of critical thinking, perseverance and analytical geometry skills in points, lines and planes by empowering individuals to tackle the real- world challenges efficiently, optimizing spatial reasoning, problem- solving and innovation.
Direction : ( Answer in 1/4 sheet of paper) 1. 2. Determine what undefined term is being modeled by each picture. Write POINT, LINE AND PLANE only.
