4 Faculty Professors 02 Visiting Professor 01 Associate Professors 01 Assistant Professors 21

Programmes Offered Degrees offered Signal Processing and VLSI M.Tech 5 B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering Embedded System Design Electronics Engineering Ph.D

6 Value Added Programmes(UG) Certificate Courses

Industry collaboration Collaborative Project with ISRO Faculty of the department have participated in the courses offered by other departments such as Green Technology Disaster Mitigation Solid Waste Management 7 Highlights of Department

8 Thrust Areas of Research

Externally Funded Projects Total Research Funding - Rs. 25.45 lakhs. Funding Agency Grants received Rs in Lakhs ISRO 25.00 KSCST 0.45 Research Initiatives 9

VLSI,Nanoelecronics Non-Classical Scaling Approaches for Ultra Deep Sub Micron Technology Electron mobility in strained and unstrained MOSFET Strain implementation for PMOS and NMOS Technology scaling has been the workhorse of semiconductor industry for over three decades for achieving the goal of smaller, faster and cheaper ICs. But continuous scaling has led to decrease in feature sizes to such levels that the fundamental physical limits of materials have become a bottleneck for further miniaturization in the Ultra Deep Sub Micron regime. 10 Vaibhav AM

Embedded System Design Smart Vehicle Integrated GSM GPS Based Crash Notifier (IGBCN) is the modification of currently existing advanced automatic crash notification (AACN) Driver Fatigue analysis is the added feature of IGBCN Transmitter Module Receiver Module Google Map location of the accident spot 11 Gopalakrishna K

Signal and Image Processing The Structural Health Monitoring of engineering structures using ultrasonic waves The main contribution pursued in this investigation is to propose a generic optimal methodology to improve the accuracy of positioning of the flaw in a structure by reconstructing spatial image 12 Dushyanth N D

VLSI,DSP and Antennas Low power pipelined 32-bit high performance RISC core The design and implementation of a low power pipelined 32-bit High performance RISC Core. The various blocks include the Fetch, Decode, Execute and Memory Read / Write Back to implement 4 stage pipelining. Low power consumption helps to reduce the heat dissipation, lengthen battery life and increase device reliability. 13 Hari Krishna Murthy

Image Processing & Communication systems Non ideal motion in airborne SAR: Analysis and compensation Motion compensation is an important part of SAR processing for high resolution air borne imaging sensors. Motion compensation is implemented as 2 stage compensation referred to as First order Moco and Second order Moco. 14 Manjula T R

VLSI,Signal Processing Diameter-based Protocol in the IP Multimedia Subsyste m The use of Diameter base protocol in the scope of the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) as specified by 3GPP is also an solution for the problem of how to provide authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) for multi domain interacting services 15 Vinay Kumar S B

Embedded System,FPGA Design and Performance analysis of a 3GPP LTE/LTE-Advance turbo decoder using software reference models Bits Per Frame Vs Corresponding BER The proposed Turbo decoder has been modeled using Simulink; various test cases are used to estimate the performances. The results are analyzed and achieved 50% reduction in computation time along with reduced BER (e-3). 16 Kiran B & Manjunath K N

RADAR and Image Fusion SAR Systems The space borne SAR system which is used to track stationary and moving objects from space. Range and Azimuth Compression is used for SAR image formation and the transmission chirp waveform is generated suitable for SAR application. The reflection wave is simulated using EM simulator in which the CAD design of the targets is loaded :1D and 2D SAR image is simulated . 17 Mukul Manohar

Projects IRNSS Receiver ( ISRO Sponsored ) Instrument/ Equipment worth 25 Lakh Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System (IRNSS) receiver has been installed in the department Principal Investigator: G.Raju Total Number of Faculty Involved:06 Faculty pursuing Ph.D :03 Four Papers published in International Conference Two best papers award at GNSS user Meet-2015 ISRO Bangalore A study on mapping of Arkavathi reservoir using IRNSS Receiver Analysis of Ionosphere scintillation in low latitude regions using IRNSS /GPS signals and mitigation 18

IRNSS Project 19 UR Antenna Installation at roof top Receiver Mounted Vehicle for Mapping User Receiver unit with data processor inside the lab Best Papers award at GNSS meet ISRO Bangalore

IRNSS(Space Weather) Analysis of Ionosphere Scintillation in Low Latitude Regions Using IRNSS Signals and Mitigation Ionospheric effects cause reduction in C/NR . These is more severe during ionospheric scintillation due to generation of large number of ions caused by solar activity The current research works aims at mitigating the effects of such loss of lock of receiver by using kalman filter techniques Adaptive techniques are used here to automatically mitigate the scintillation effects 20 G.Raju, Manjula TR   Fading of the L5 Signals from 1B IRNSS Satellite Recorded on 20 April 2015 Local Time Variation of C/N0

21 L5 Band is More Prone to Scintillation Azimuth and Elevation Angle Plot of IRNSS Satellites on 20 th April 2015

IRNSS(Mapping Applications) Mapping Missions Using IRNSS Receiver IRNSS provides all weather capability of mapping for regional applications. The applications includes flood mapping/inundation survey This is also of particular interest to cadastral mapping useful for GIS applications. IIRNSS-UR have been used to map water bodies such as Arkavati dam area,Harohalli Lake, Jaksandra village and JGI campus. 22 G.Raju, Manjunath KN     Mapping of Arkavathi dam area   Mapping of Harohalli lake
