DEPTH AND DISTANCE PERCEPTION NATURE OF CONSCIOUSNESS

Depth / Distance To observe/judge

CUES Monocular Cues- can only be seen with ONE eye. Binocular Cues- required to use BOTH eyes.

Monocular Cues Size cues The father the smaller, the nearer the bigger. Retina-back part of the eye that receives the image of what is seen.

Linear Perspective Converging lines as it go farther Example: Railroad

Texture Gradient The farther the smoother

Atmospheric Perspective

Height Cues(aerial)

Overlap(interposition) The ones at the back are smaller and farther, the ones in front the nearer and bigger.

Motion Parallax Near unclear, far stationary(when riding a vehicle and viewing a spot )

Binocular Cues CONVERGENCE

Retinal Disparity

Consciousness Awareness of oneself/surroundings

Characteristics of Normal Waking Consciousness

CONSCIOUSNESS IS ALWAYS CHANGING

CONSCIOUSNESS IS A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

CONSCIOUSNESS IS CONTINUOUS

CONSCIOUSNESS IS SELECTIVE
